Does anyone know where i can get a lightweight battery for the 964, ala that used on the RS or similar ? The stock ones weigh something like 47Ilbs whereas lightweights can be anything between 5 and 18Ilbs...thats a heck of a weight saving ! I have tried the normal searches through google etc but have so far drawn a blank [

There was one on ebay and few weeks backs I recall.
Demon tweeks do racing batteries, they are gel cell. I doubt they are a straight swap but should be fine providing you charge it once a week if you don't use the car for a week or longer.

you can try Rally design in Kent they do different racing batteries sizes and power or crank power or try Demon Tweeks as suggested by Nathan or GPR or there is a company called .. Varley red top they are based in UK and manufacture those batteries , they are more or less all the same with different brandings on.

I think you intended to post this one Peter;

I have the 25 and it will start my S2's 3.0 litre lump OK and saves a very useful 11 Kg in weight. Car has to be kept overnight on a battery conditioner/charger though as the capacity of these batteries is about 1/4 of the original battery.

Ahh yes, thanks Neil [
] Same firm, different department.
thanks for the replies gents. Isnt there a battery spec thats half the weight of our stock batteries but still good enough for more every day driving?
I dont use my car on a day to day basis and i generally leave it on the trickle charger in the garage when not in use. But i also want the car to be able to spend a week away somewhere touring and not be flat as a pancake charge wise.
As much as i would love a 5Ilb racing battery i need something a little more practical but would like to drop half that crazy weight. Im guessing not a lot of resources goes into car battery design, considering the bulk and weight of the damn things that havent changed much since i started driving 24 years ago !
What amp spec do we need? ie what is currently in the car? is it 40amp we require ?
Looking at that powervamp range i am thinking the PVR30 or 35 should do the trick, or even the PVR40 ? They all weigh 8-9Kg less than the stock battery which is about 20kgs or thereabouts i think.
How about the Odyssey range..any good?
