Hi guys, what headlight bulbs are you using to improve lighting at night, any suggestions would be most welcome!!

OSRAM Nightbreaker Plus. A noticeable difference over "standard" bulbs and at normal wattage.

Wash your lamps! Hidden away theyre usually far dirtier than on an exposed lamp. Theyre old and relatively low down too, so many lights have been sandblasted tuntil they are near opaque. Unfortunately 1988> lamps are too dear to replace on a whim.

Unless you have done soemthing about it I will wager that your headlamps are struggling with about 10v! If you make up a pair of test leads out of reasonably thick wire and hotwire the positive and earth connectors, then I will wager that you will see a magical improvement.

Phillips X-treme did the trick for me, the Osrams Nightbreakers I bought only lasted 6 months, the Phillips still going three years later.

Theres certinly a trade-off with eh Osram bulbs. Ive bought them but not fitted them to my 944 and the biggest difference made to the NB was polishing the plastic headlamp lenses!

Not wanting to tempt fate but my osram's are nearing 4 years old and still working away!!

The OSRAM Nightbreaker Plus is supposed to be longer-lasting than the original Nightbreaker. They last for about 18 months in my Golf which I run with them permanently on for 20,000 miles a year. So about 30,000 miles worth of running. The ones in the Porsche have never needed replacing.

I would wire the headlamps like you would a pair of extra driving lights, using athe old power wires as a control for the relay. It might not make much of a difference on your car, but Id be surprised if it didnt. Check with a multimeter and then hot wires first and see if you can tell the difference.

>Ahem< Can I refer my learned friend to my earlier post. [:)]

Osram Nightbreakers in my S2 been in for around 5 years working fine but I did check the available voltage and current before fitting them to make sure I would get the benefit. Literally like night and day was the difference I noticed.
