LEZ/ULEZ - Scotland/London

I just randomly checked my car for Scotland LEZ exemption, since I seen Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee are joining Glasgow at the end of May launching their LEZ schemes. To my surprise my car is exempt. This was previously not the case as exemptions in Glasgow were for 30+ years old British cars, no other countries. So it would seem that form of racism has now been revoked and the rules now permit any nationality of 30 plus year old car.

I also checked London, obviously I drive there never, but their historic exemption is 40 plus years old. So, by my calculations, in 5 years time I shall be able to sell my London ULEZ exempt classic Porsche to a very rich person for millions...............

Good news. Does anywhere else in England operate this dreadful scheme for me to check for other places that I will never drive in?

We are very lucky in Ireland for now that this draconian, totalitarian, cash grab is not in place here yet.

Lets just say if I drove my Irish reg. 944 over to London and visited Buckingham Palace and maybe took a spin down Oxford street could I be chased for ULEZ even if my car is registered in a different jurisdiction and I am basically an outsider?

I believe so....however a wee trip to Edinburgh Castle would be free due to different set of rules in Scotland.

Less than 2 years for me to be exempt....I have a dislike of London now but I'm tempted in 2026 to drive straight through the middle...perhaps a large sticker with 1 finger up to Khan would be appropiate..šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

My car's not dirty...I'm aloud 4.5% Co2, IIRC last MOT was less than 0.5% and has been around that level since rebuild 7/8 years ago....hydro carbons are even better against those aloud. But hey, I wouldn't be parking anywhere in London anyway.....just driving through...šŸ¤£
