Leaking fuel

Actually more of a torrent than a leak from the front of the fuel tank.
When I started the car yesterday I think about 10 litres dropped onto the floor, on the bright side at least I know the fuel pump is working well.
Are there any standard problems that I should look for wrt fuel lines and connections?
Are there any modifications that can be made to prevent this going fwd?

You don't say whether it is a rubber hose or steel pipe running to the front of the car that has gone?

BTW you've done the pain part of the repair job by emptying the tank!!

Hose is simply replace; while you're underneath, its a good idea to give the various hose clips the 3rd degree to make sure they're secure. They have a habit of rusting and falling apart because of all the road dirt they're exposed to. If the tank's empty, I would change them anyway because they're not expensive.

Steel lines are more difficult. From memory, one is 8mm and one is 10mm. You need to inspect the whole length for corrosion and replace with Kunifer or similar which won't rust, using connectors to join old to new. You need to ensure that the new line(s) is securely clipped to the underside of the body. This shouldn't cost more than about £30 whereas new OEM lines will be expensive (depends if you are trying to keep the car original or not).

Personally I wouldn't use plastic fuel hose as a replacement due to the danger if you ground the car on a speed bump or similar. Official Porsche policy is to say no to plastic fuel lines too.
