I've been a couple of times to classic and am booked to go next year. Its really great to look at lots of all types of classic cars. I'm even doing some laps on circuit. Its nice and relaxed and not so crowded but good social fun. I've stayed with MG club at Chateau Eporce but may not be spaces now as popular cos its very good and only 25 min drive. I'd recommend it to anyone .Perhaps we could arrange a time for a meet up,on circiut, if there are lots of people going.
Thats the Chateau we were considering staying at, spoke to Travel Destinations last week and there were still spaces available, apparently the crossing at Portsmouth gets booked up quick so she suggested we do it sooner rather than later.
Were you able to park your car at the Bugatti circuit?

***The plan has changed. I'm now leaving on Monday 5th after work and staying Calais for the night. Next morning off to Stuttgart, stay in Stuttgart for the night. Wednesday morning off to the Porsche museum then to Switzerland in the afternoon, Furka pass, Gotthard Tunnel then the dam which James Bond jumped off at the start of Golden eye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verzasca_Dam) and I plan to stay in Locarno. Then across France to the Millau bridge and stay the night. Then up to Le Mans for the classic on the Friday or Saturday depending on the car and me........****

Going to Classic -leaving Folkstone about 8am Thurs-I was wondering if anyone has an idea of route as not
gone to Le Mans from this direction would prefer not autoroute- or do i just join the queue of brit cars.
Going with Grandstand Motorsports, with infield parking, track laps etc. Staying at Campanille Arnage.
Where is a good vantage point for the night racing- want to see the 917 exhaust flames.
Is there going to be a PCGB presence in any way.
Hoping someone can give me any advice on this- happy to join up if any convoys/groups around same time.
Cheers

p.s. Has anyone got their tickets through yet? I would have thought they'd have come by now given that we've already had regular Le Mans but all I have are some receipts so far!!?
p.p.s We're a group of 6 now 4 in a Jag (not to be underestimated as its over 500hp), and two in my 944 (which I still haven't actually picked up yet!)

Whats the score with the supposed dress code for the pits area? According to the bumpf its meant to be no bermuda shorts etc - not that I own any. Is it strict or could I get away with vest top, handkerchief and socks with sandals?

We had tickets for a grandstand on the outside of the pit straight, but we sat on the other side for practice, & managed to get to quite a few different spots over the course of the racing. You have fantastic access to all the stands during night / early morning when there are no staff restricting access. Try the stands at the Ford curves as you see some great action as the cars come through, and the exhaust lights all the way up the pit straight.
