Le Mans Classic Stories and Pix Here Please!!

So, its either worn out, so you'll be selling it - or it's nicely run in, so you really give it the beans now! Tony

I'll have to get rid of the old $hitter now. An average of 3k miles per year? How will I ever sell it? We were talking about the weather on our campsite and agreed that a around 5 degrees warmer, 100% humidity rather than 95% and zero cloud rather than the tiny wisp on the horizon would have made the weather just perfect! Jees it was HOT!! And the lightning show and 'St. Elmo's fire' on Thursday evening was simply amazing!!

Team Gulp (5 of us in 3 cars) met up with Martin and Jeff at Boulogne and drove down to Le Mans in convoy together. Stopped for a typically nice French lunch in a small village about 100kms from Le Mans. Lost each other near Le Mans and didn't meet up again for the rest of the weekend - although we passed you coming into Arnage when you were heading out. Tried to contact Damen and father a couple of times but couldn't get thru on your mobile. Saw Ben Saville's 993RS in the Porsche area and tried calling but think I have an old number. Somehow didn't manage to get round to calling you Jason. [:D][;)]

mine turned 100 klicks on way back from ring in april...has never pulled as strong got 290 km out of it on the autobahn,100 octane juice in holland[;)]

Rich I didn't have a missed call so may be you don't have my up to date number. PM me and I'll send it to you. I thought the weekend was great. A little bit hotter would have been much better. When I got home last night my RS had never been dirtier!!!! Damen

Out of interest, for those who paid for the Porsche infield parking and hospitality - what did the hospitality provide? Drinks? Food? Was there a limit on what you could or couldn't have? We camped and decided to just cook breakfast and eat at Arnage high street or in the village complex. Our weekend proved VERY expensive once all the meals and drinks were added up.

Rich I took the "poor man" in-field package which meant parking and laps of the track. So can not comment on the Porsche food and drink. Classic Le Mans is never cheap but a great event. A few more showers on the camp sites would be helpful, otherwise no complaints at this end. Also, we were last on to the track prior to the formal Porsche and Mercedes demonstrations prior to the start of racing on Saturday which meant a very fast lap, with an indicated 160 mph on the Mulsanne!!! Off topic CLM..... I was in Le Mans 1981 and 1982 (great races!), if you had seen it those days, you would have been happy that there was a shower at all![:D] CLM... anything on TV about it in the UK? Rgds, Hacki

Can't believe I missed you all but it was not a place to hang around. It was my first time and I only found the track on Sunday! 3 days after I got there. Saw the Porsches on track and in the paddocks but it was hell walking around. Spent more time at the Chateau and gardens in the Loire drinking wine. Passed a silver UK 964 RS on the Tours' bridge on Monday morning heading South.
