So I went and did it...
I had about 19 Porsche cars in my personal collection, most of them too immaculate to enjoy as I feel they should.. KUI is a good example, modified with sympathy, excellent condition, but too nice to take to a trackday.
So I made the decision a few months ago to start to thin down the collection, to keep a couple of garage queens, and to keep a dedicated fast road trackday only car.
Some of the cars were sold without any emotional attachment, but KUI was always special to me so I made it clear she was only for sale to the right person at the right price.
I really didnt think I would find someone I was happy with, until Roger from titanic and occasionally on this forum, at last I had foundsome I would trust with her... So she was sold last tuesday.
Originally the car was owned by Jason (wizard on this forum), over the last couple of years its had a low mile engine fitted from my stash, resealed, waterpump, belts and gasketed, refurbished callipers and new brakes, our chipset, our DPwastegate, paintwork imperfections rectified, cup clutch, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, RS steering wheel, refurbed 17" cup1 wheels, 968 mirrors and door handles, bridge spoiler, interior changed for a black sports one, 968 anti roll bars, new wheel bearings all round, aircon completely bought upto date (a proper 134a conversion), refurbed powersteering pump, clear indicators, new driveshafts, new fuel and brake lines, new flexi hoses, motorsport fuel pump and much much more!
It was a painfull thing to see it go, but I had gone too far making it perfect to really enjoy it, I could not bring myself to use it hard on a track or to even be a hooligan with it on the roads... So it was for the best (I keep telling myself this!)
So.. the plan is now to take one of my other 944 turbo's and turn it into a safe and fun (not too wild) 944 track and road car, able to go on runs to the nurburgring in comfort, but also not too nice so that I feel bad if it hits a tyre wall or makes a mess of some armco! I am even tempted to use a Lux bodyshell just to make it interesting.
So... goodbye KUI.... Roger you have an awesome car!
