hiya all, as i will be needing a daily driver in the near future and dont wish to put excess miles on my s2, i have seen what appears to be a nice 968 in bromsgrove reg no is k869 mmr, does anyone know this car and its history?, nearly bought a 2001[i think] m5 but decided not to also thinking as most of my driving apart from weekends away is in and around greater/inner london so may be better off with a tip 968, thanks and regards jason p ps if well maintained our long is the clutch ]life on a 968?[:)]

Hi
I have seen the car and it looks exceptionally clean, and good value for money. The dealer in question has a very good reputation and doesn't sell rubbish. That said, for the sake of a few hundred quid, I would invest in a professional inspection, if this highlights any niggles it gives you some room to negotiate the price.

The clutch on my 968 lasted 87k miles.

hiya david, thanks for swift reply, yes! she does look very clean and a good price, i think i will give them a call and find out a bit more and go or not from there, still undecided re manual or go for a tip for reasons stated in op, regards jason p

For driving in/around London I'd think a tip would be a lot easier than a manual - but then I'm prejudiced as, after about 4 years with 944 Lux / 944S manuals, I've had a 968 tip for almost 12 years now! The joy of the tip is that it's up to you whether to drive it as an automatic or as a clutchless manual (which is how I use mine almost all the time!). OK, you've only got 4 gears instead of 6, 1st is a bit short but 2nd is very long (about 85mph at red line I think, wasn't looking when I floored it last night!) but it's an easy drive in traffic.
