dont know what im doing wrong and wanted to do it without any help, but failed miserably.

Go to your picture, on the right side there are 4 boxes with various links, right click and copy the bottom one, then in your forum post, click the image icon and paste the link straight after.
this is not necessarily the neatest but works!

Edit - Just tried copy and pasting the "img" link from Photobucket (4th one down as above) and pasting it direct and it works like this
