Just bought a 997 3.6 2006

Indeed so! I don't recall any revision being made to this. Was it a software update or something they did at the factory? Certainly on both our 2010 and 2011 cars they don't come up at 56....[;)]

Well chaps had the new 997 now for three days now and if I could sleep in it I would , what a fantastic piece of kit ,so quick and smooth ,makes the SSE feel really old which I suppose it is and slow

Job number 1 to remove all the wheels and clean the insides ,wheel arches and calipers ,there not that bad but I want to do it
Job number 2 Change the oil and filter (last full service done at 59k its done 64k now but that was over a yr ago)
Job number 3 Remove leaves and crap from the front intakes ( I plan to get grilles for this, what a daft idea no grilles in the first place)
Got the hang of the oil checks etc
Might get the engine bay detailed if that's possible ( don't even know if that can be done, sure it can)
All in all really happy with it ………………………...so far

Mike

Mike, good to see you at Ragley and your bonding with the car. Regarding the mesh grills good guide on 911UK on how to fit behind bumper. I've done this on my turbo, easy job. You need to take the bumper off to clean out between rads anyway. I prefer the mesh behind the bumper to the add on front grills, they are a lot more subtle.
If you do get to Dove House with the car you can see how easy it is to get the bumper off whilst it's on the ramp

[8|] Perfect (don't look at 997 forum ), job for you now Mike. Fully detailed easy job. Make sure you clean between the rads when you do it, you will be amazed what's trapped in between.
Thanks Clive

Hi Geoff and co

These grilles seem like a must thing to do

I will have to get someone to do this for me guys I'm not that confident and I will end breaking or scratching some thing , pay some one …………..any offers

Hi Guys me again

Been driving most the weekend in my 997 and its great , just a couple of things I would like to ask you 997 owners

It seems to warm up quite quickly and the gauge stays in the middle so I guess that's fine
Oil temp just about 100 when hot
and on start up just under 5 oil pressure , so I'm guessing all ok

Also I am being told I need to use 5-40w fully synthetic oil which is slightly thicker than 0-40w and as a result lubs all bearings better (Talking IMS here)

Honestly, I was hesitant about removing my bumper, but visit the pelican Parts website and find their excellent tutorial on removing it to fit grilles / clean the rads. It only takes a few tools, and a couple of hours, and you'll pat yourself on the back afterwards!

PS. Use a bit of bend stiff wire to remove the two slide clips next to each headlight NOT just a pair of pliers in case they slip :)

UPDATE
Just heads up ………..had this 997 just 3 months and I have to say its the best driving car I have ever had , the drive, power, and looks are just great
Had the grilles fitted , new heat shields fitted , oil and filter done , all wheel arch's cleaned , its been detailed and it looks fab
Read the manual from cover to cover
Would I go back to a classic …………………..No
