Bear in mind that the six front ones (three per door) are moderatored/ split by a cross-over unit.
TBH, the sound quality in a 944 is never going to be brilliant as the accoustics are fairly pants to start off with and the sound deadenining/ insulation is way.... past it's best !

When I got my car I wanted a telephone hands free head unit which I got from Halfords -£90.00
bought 4 of the 2-way pioneer speakers (look exactly the same as the alpine ones and fit perfectly in the existing holes) from a shop on the web £55.00 . Then the speakers do need a bit of bass so for Christmas the gang bought me the powered sub woofer £140 ish all sounds very good now. I fitted it myself . so no additional costs.
