Thanx Gary!
From the Good Pub Guide, the Griffin at Shustoke sounds good -I'll be there at midday!

From Good Pub Guide:
The chatty landlord brews Griffin ‘Ere It Is, Black Magic Women and Gorgeous George in the barn next door to this genuinely friendly country local, and they are served alongside seven changing guests from brewers such as Hook Norton, RCH, Theakstons and Wadworths; also lots of english wines, farm cider, and mulled wine in winter. Usually busy with a cheery crowd, the low-beamed L-shaped bar has log fires in two stone fireplaces (one's a big inglenook), fairly simple décor from cushioned café seats (some quite closely spaced) and sturdily elm-topped sewing trestles, to one nice old-fashioned settle, beer mats on the ceiling and a games machine. Outside, there are old-fashioned seats and tables on the back grass with distant Birmingham views, a play area and a large terrace with plants in raised beds.
Straightforward bar food in substantial helpings includes sandwiches, ploughman's, cheese and broccoli bake, gammon, scampi, steak and ale pie, mixed grill and 10oz sirloin steak.

many thanks to John for organising this, our guide was really informative and the tour took twice as long as we had expected but we didn't even notice the time flying by.
