There are numerous spots in france: Champagne region, going to Strassbourg ( Schlumpf Collection wiki ), over the swiss border and doing some passes, then going via Techino into Italy, doing a bit of clothes shopping in Milano, doing Modena and the ferrari museum and all else (!), continue to your destination. There is Rome, there is Napoli (watch your alloys - thats a joke BTW) and all else. Come back via the Riviera, Monaco, go up to Lake Como/Garda, chill a bit, try to catch Montreux Jazz festival back into swits, or continue on the french riviera, go up into the Alpes Maritimes and visit Paul Ricard Circuit, have a bite in the italian resto behind Paul Ricard and sit with Ferrari f1 teams whilst they chill if you time it right. Next day: lunch in Paris, catch the ferry/chunnel before dinner time and get yer feet under a table in the big smoke at 21:00hr.
Sorted, guvnor.

Plan is to drive towards the Swiss/Italian border (with driving from Manchester, thought would be good to stop near Reims and do the rest the following day).
Possibly going through either the St. Bernard tunnel or over the pass into Italy, then initially staying this side of Turin/Milan, one of the towns I plan to visit is Pont Saint Martin in AO, might base myself there for a few days and look around Gressoney, Chamonix, catch up with friends, then move on to the Lakes.
Nick.
Your route is about the most expensive way, you will need to buy a vignette and pay for the tunnel
I went last autumn Rheims, Nuit St George,Modane, col de Fréjus (Not the Tunnel), Turin.
Fabulous trip , no toll charges or tunnels.

First time we stopped in Luxembourg in a chateau then onto Porsche museum Stuttgart then onto Zurich to friends on the lake then stelvio etc then over to lake como and home via route napoleon and Grenoble .
Second time, last September we did the reverse route to get route napoleon going south with gorge du verdun
Both brilliant journeys
Have fun !!
