My car started and ran tonight for the first time in 4 and 1/2 years. Sorted all my fuel leak problems and away it went. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Fantastic! Well done that man! Bet you can't wait to take it out for a spin. What's left to do?

Thanks Rob. It was a big moment for me. I don't have that much left to do mostly flatting and polishing the paint and securing the side skirts and rear spoiler. Oh and finish making the exhaust.

Thanks guys.

At points in the last 4 years I didn't think it would ever be finished. But I've kept going and it's nearly there.

Will do photo's when I get it outside.

here's a few photo's along the way http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/colin944/slideshow/?sort=2

Nice one Colin.

Looks like you have a few other projects. I know I do, too many !

it all takes time though.. oh and that pesky thing called money.

Bravo! That's great news!

Getting the engine running is a huge psychological boost when restoring a car. There may be a million things left to do, but if the engine is made to run then things feel s whole load better!

When will she be on the road properly?

The other stuff in the photo's if from the two guys I share garage space with. They run a business restoring VW vans and campers as well as doing all sorts of conversions and engine swaps. Ie putting a pd tdi in a 1970's camper van. They think I'm nuts doing a Porsche when I could have build a VW van??????

Congratulations! It must be very satisfying to see the results of your long labors. Happy motoring!

Easy there, tiger. "It runs" is far from the same as "It drives wonderfully and goes like a bomb."

The latter may follow the former, but there may be a fair time gap between the two ... [;)]
