Also things like Region 8 (East Midlands) have their annual day out at Chatsworth, 1st July this year.

I would just like to say that it's all fi8ne and dandy setting up events, however if you continue to do them in the deep south you won't get alot of us northern and scottish guys turning up.We had a gathering at Suzleruk's lock up and 12 944's turned up.If you try and do something in the middle of the country then we would come down.( by the middle I mean yourshire or manchester area and not Birmingham) If you live in london and drive 3 hours you will be in york or manchester and if we drive 3 hrs we will be with you.The yorkshire region do would be ideal as it's not a 600 mile round trip for anyone.Un less you live in cornwall or aberdeen.Hastings is a 7 hour drive from here and cornbury house is also around 5-6 hrs.You haver to remember we grive 944's and not brand new 911's therefore most of us don't have the budget or free time off work to go big distances. So lets try and be a bit more realiastic about tghe whole thing.

I can't be bothered to go through all the reasons that you would be missing out by not coming but here are a few. Central location geographically, easy to get to , straight up the M6, virtually at no cost to you except a small donation to a Cancer charity and also an Autistic Foundation. A ride or drive of an A.P.C.* or if the weather is fine a 56 ton Tank, a meet up with members from all over the country and a drive through some of the most spectacular scenery in the U.K.

I'd love to come but all that is over-ridden by the fact that 1st July = Sunday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed; the single biggest event on the British motorsport / automotive calendar.
As a general point, if the club really wants to attract people to its events it needs to take account of and work around bigger events.

This thread reminds of that old saying.......
"you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time"
Maybe we should have a meet up North one year, down South the next year followed by in the middle on 3rd year and then start over??

I think it is a great pity that we can't have a large Display area for 944's at Chateau Impney. What is the reason for this Paul? If we got enough owners interested in displaying, of which I would be one, is there any way you could push them on it? If it was a 964RS, 1973RS Anniversary I'm sure we wouldn't have to ask.
As far as North, South and in the Middle events go, that could be a good idea, So long as North isn't Birmingham. lol.
I am Happy to travel to Events, within reason, I attended the 50th Celebrations with R1 last year and made the most of it by doing all 3 days, put 1100 miles on the clock, and still didn't top out my limited mileage.
As Colin said, we had 12 cars turn up to an unofficial Garage Meet, with many more Owners who had their cars tucked away for winter, so we have a Big following in Scotland.
Frontrunner, Where is it this year?
Calke Abbey, what are the facilities available? Camping? Nearby Hotels?
Let's do something, and not let it just go by.
Alan.

Could someone local suggest a nearby Campsite, B&B or Cheap Hotel where we could stay and maybe get a group discount for One maybe Two nights.
