Is a 2003 996GT3 £25K better than a 2000 996C2 ?

No it's not. You are always going to get diminishing returns performance-wise.
But you're not just paying for performance, it's a rarer more sought after car so holds it's value better.

Are you having evil thoughts? :)

An '03 996 Gt3 for £25,000?
I wish... no, they're about £25K more than mine to upgrade!

maybe ;-) The problem is I don't think mine can drop much more so the "holds its value better" argument doen't hold so well.

In that case just drive one, you'll soon talk yourself into spending that £25k extra, they are absolutely brilliant!

It is a big difference in performance - I did the same move pretty much 2001 C2 to 2004 GT3. Find driving a C2 pretty dull in comparison when I do drive Mum's now.

GT3s in any guise are very quick cars.

IMO it's not the speed of the car that impresses, there's a lot of metal out there that's just as fast.
Just get in the car and take a bend at speed, it feels so light and nimble, it rides flat and seemingly on rails with so much feedback. Constant physical and aural bombardment.
That's before you've taken it on track where it belongs.

After 5 minutes you're hooked.
