Any one know a good independant near Tipperary. I've almost sold the S2 but the guy has asked where he can get it looked after.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

Going to be a bit of a struggle I'd say, as there's few enough in Dublin let alone Tipperary. Try posting in the R27-Ireland section though maybe and someone might come up with something?

Greg

Tipperary ! Tough going there. I use a guy in dublin who races Porsches and specialises in them. Outside of Dublin I know no-one.
Tipp is only 2 hours to Dublin though, maybe it's not beyond the bounds of possibility to get the car serviced up here twice a year?

OK then..
Slightly off thread I know but can we find out how many and where are the Irish 944s?
I only know of one other near here but there must be more surely?

Greg/Kevin,

Who do you use in the Dublin locale? I know someone relocating and he's taking his 993 with him.

I use Barry Whelan. He's close enough into town and has been good enough for me so far. Always 3 or 4 porsches in there when I'm in. He's on +353 1 453 7224 and is on Lullymore Terrace, on the canal just off the South Circular Road.

Hi Steve,
I've got an 89 turbo ( ex Andrew Sweetenhams car ). I'll be back in Ireland for the summer months and It'll have been almost a year and a half since I've driven it ( currently living here in Florida ).

I've also got a buddy who owns 2 turbo's, both low mileage, a coupe and a cabrio.....lucky @%$[;)]

Regards,

John Daly.

Porsche Club Ireland has about 300 members. If you assume 10% of them have a 944, that's about 30 cars. And of course there will be owners who aren't member PCI members.

Karl.

PS - I'm originally from Galway, but now live in California and I own a 1991 S2.

Karl,
That sounds about right. I'm a member of PCI and have often thought of setting up a 944 register for Ireland.

I've done a few articles for Excellence over the past few years and one of them was a review of a pair of 3.0L turbocharged 968s. One of those a full-on PowerHaus conversion. The turbo was a K29 with a #8 hot-housing - lag wasn't bad at all. It made about 338 bhp and 322 lb-ft at the rear-wheels at 1.0 bar with 91 octane. At 1.3 bar with 100 octane unleaded, it made 400 bhp and 377 lb-ft at the rear-wheels. All numbers are SAE corrected on a Dynojet 248C. The car also had about $10K in suspension and brake work. Fastest car I've ever driven.

So if you haven't driven your car for a while, you must be itching!

But it begs the question... is that car in Ireland?

Karl.

They sound like awesome cars.....would love to read that article!

My car is in Ireland, I looked into importing it over here but there was a nightmare of red tape due to RHD. I intend to be back in Ireland for at least 4 months of the year anyway so it not too much of a hassle.....and YES, I'm itching bad!!!! I cant wait to drive it again, It is without a doubt the fastest car I've ever driven, or likely to drive, almost no lag and insanely fast[:D] It was andrew sweetenhams car originally (promaxmotorsport). It was featured in 911&porsche world and GT purely porsche back in july 04.

It's going to be a great summer to look forward to.......re-united with my car and the little matter of the world cup in Germany!

Is that the yellow one, Karl?

Nope (I think that was the one built by KMR and was owned by Gary Stone at the time).

The one I drove was red and it appeared in issue #126, February 2004, page 125.

Brilliant. I must look that article up.

Karl.
