The Porsche Club have been invited to the Royal International Air Tattoo 20, 21 July 2013

Copy of the flyer below

Arguably the world's biggest and best international airshow RIAT is extending you a special offer which gets you to the centre of the action and the chance to display your Porsche in the main display area with a unique collection of rare and sporting vehicles of the era.
The Royal International Air Tattoo offers you a very special hospitality package, for the weekend, to attend this fantastic event in the Cotswolds.
The Air Tattoo is unique, with its daily 7-hour non- stop flying display, packed with first class aerial action, featuring many of the world's most skilful aerobatic display teams, performing in the skies in front of your hospitality area.
No other air show will offer such an exciting blend of international aircraft, stunning aerial formations, special paint schemes and interaction with so many of the world's aviators.
The last flying Avro Vulcan will be on the ground close to the Vintage Village and in the air for what might, sadly, be one of its last outings before retirement.
If you can take your eyes off the aviation action, you can visit the Cockpit Village, Pilots Mess Bar and Battle of Britain arena where you will also find a Vintage Tea Room, and listen to 1940's singer Madelaine Brown.
For the first time in the history of this longstanding Air Tattoo, this year there will be an area dedicated to classic cars of the forties and fifties as well as more recent sports cars, and the Porsche Club has been invited to bring a significant group of cars especially to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 911.
As a member of one of the invited Clubs you would be offered the chance to bring your vehicle (not necessarily a 911) for one of the two days, or the whole weekend, on very favourable terms. Essentially the package consists of entry tickets for you and your co-driver, positioning your Porsche in the central display, access to the special viewing enclosure and excellent hospitality through the day.
Because of the special issues of securing and organising a busy air show, entry has to he controlled. We ask that you present your vehicle on Friday the 19th by 1830 if possible to have it in place before the event opens, or at the latest 0630 on the Saturday/ Sunday. A complimentary breakfast will be available for you in the Vintage Village at 0730-0900 Saturday/ Sunday.

If you decide to come for both days then you can leave your car through the night where there will be armed security with constant surveillance during the day, as you would expect of a high security RAF facility; so if you wish to take a day off over the weekend to visit the Cotswolds we will take care of your vehicle whilst you are away. You can of course take your car off site for the Saturday evening, after 1930, if you are attending the full weekend; your car would just need to be back on site by 0630 the following day.
You will be provided with a very attractive hospitality package as a token of our appreciation for the effort involved in bringing your Porsche.
Your exclusive package, dedicated to you includes:
- Access to the Pimm's Flight Deck Enclosure
- Excellent viewing point at the eastern take off point
- Private Garden with directors chairs, tables and umbrellas
- Picnic Lunch and Ice Cream Dessert
- Sheltered Area
- Pay Bar
- Private Toilets
- Close to the Vintage Village and the Vulcan
The cost of this whole package including the entry ticket for you car is just £48 per person for Saturday and £35 for Sunday, which is less than half the normal cost and really extraordinary value for money. If you wanted to attend the whole weekend the price would be £83 per person.

We plan to create a special Porsche display featuring, but not limited to, the 50 years of the 911 in the heart of the static display area of the Tattoo. We expect that the Club's Racing Mobile Unit will be there to provide the backdrop. Our only request is that you have your Porsche on site by 0630 in the morning and stay until 1930 in the evening. Special entry and exit routes will enable you to avoid the traffic. Come for the day or have a great weekend in the Cotswolds.

One of our selected Charities of the Year "" Hope for Tomorrow "" which provides mobile chemotherapy units for the use of NHS Trusts in Gloucestershire and surrounding counties will be present throughout the weekend, with the chance to win a signed poster from their Patron, Sir Stirling Moss.

We'd be very interested in this but it's the weekend before the Silverstone Classic and we are about 160 miles from them both. Shame.

Hi

Will the cars be taped off or will people be able to mingle around them?

You know what happens with general public.

Paint gets scratched and removal bits disappear

Trevor

The Club Racing mobile unit is planned to be there with Club personnel to help protect the cars and keep an eye on them. In addition there will be other roving members to circulate around cars while the owner is absent. If it looked as though it could become a problem then I would get the organisers to arrange for rope barriers but this does rather spoil the point. I had eight very rare cars there last year and we did not have any problems. Hope this answers your question adequately.

Richard Watling

Hopefully you have all had an updated email from Richard Whatling via PCGB, sometime on Wednesday, if you have not then please get in touch.

For those of you that have already bought tickets direct from Fairford you will be included in the package as long as you get your Porsche there by the deadline. I will find out who you need to speak to, it may just be a case of registering your car with PCGB so that they know what cars will be there on either of the two days.

Regards Stuart

Hi all,

I contacted the club about attending this event earlier this week. As yet I have not received a response. Also my wife has called on two occasions with no success. Today she got the impression that the person on the other end of the phone was not concerned with booking us in. Obviously we would like to get this sorted as we need to book a hotel and time off work to attend. []

Hi Richard,
As a representative of the Porsche Club I apologise for your inconvenience. We had the same problem last week but I thought it was now sorted.

I have sent this email to Richard Whatling to find another way forward. Thank you for your response as it helps us to sort things out.

Kind regards Stuart

Email to Richard Whatling
Hi Richard,
People are getting fed up with Porsche Club as they do not seem bothered about this event and I have to say that is the impression Elaine and myself had when we spoke to club office last week.

Can we bypass PCGB and book somewhere else please.

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for your concern. I'm glad that I am not the only one having trouble. Hopefully things will get sorted now!

Richard Watling, who is the PCGB Member organising our involvement at this year's Tattoo, is currently travelling back from Fairford; as soon as he is back, he will be submitting a comprehensive Q & A. This document will, where possible, answer all points.

Ahead of Richard's response, I can confirm that the Race Centre is scheduled to be there "" thereby offering Members a respite area to relax and enjoy the show!

It goes without saying, that on behalf of the Board, apologies, that the full detail was not shared earlier.

Nick Hine
Chairman and Communications Director

Following Nick Hine's message I have picked up the registration process personally for the moment so if you do want to come to the event send an email to visitporsche@btinternet.com and I will add you to the schedule. The following information will be needed:

Full name of driver and co-driver
Club Membership Number
Address for delivery of tickets
Email address
Telephone number of key contact

Porsche Model and type e.g. Cabrio
Year
Colour
Registration number
Any Special features, modifications or ownership history

Days you wish to attend the show "" driver and passenger names per day for Saturday and Sunday ( 20/21 July) or both.

If you wish to deposit your Porsche the night before you attend.

If you wish to bring another vehicle to shuttle with, bearing in mind you must leave your Porsche on the stand until 1930 pm. You will be able to return in the "shuttle" without having to pay for public car parking.

Although the Club has a quota for the number of Porsches and visitors there are plenty of places available as I write so send in your application to me and it will be processed, including confirmation of spaces when I hear from you with the data. The club is not handling the ticketing procedure which will be carried out by the team at the Tattoo. We will pass over your details to them en bloc and they will be in touch to arrange payment and ticketing delivery.

I will be producing a more detailed list of Q&A in the next few days and will post on the forum, but if in the meanwhile you have a particular issue send me an email and I will endeavour to answer it. Several people have asked about help with hotel accomodation for example - for this you can call the RIAT helpline on 01793 435588 ; they have some local allocations which may be able to help.

The key point about the event is that your Porsche needs to be on site by 0630 in the morning and must stay until 1930 on each evening you are there. It is possible to drop it off between 1930 and 2000 on either Saturday or Sunday to avoid the early start and come in another vehicle on the show days. There is an armed security lock down at 2100 which will protect your car overnight.

On the event days the Clubs race unit and shop will attend with several staff to keep an eye on the cars during the day to enable you to enjoy the excellent viewing position and hospitality available with your ticket in the Pimms Flight Deck adjacent to the eastern end of the runway where the action takes place. The Vulcan will be close by ( and flying) as well as the Red Arrows. The cost of the whole package on Saturday is £48 per head and on Sunday £35. This price includes all the hospitality and viewing area facilities for less than the cost of a normal entry ticket alone - a superb offer at a 60% discount to the normal cost of £88 on Sunday for example. The price is an early start but you will get some free breakfast also shortly after all the cars are in position. The show is as good as it gets around the world with over 40 air forces on display and last year there were five aerobatic teams of the standard of the Reds. This also may be the last full display by the Vulcan before retirement - so I hope you will find it is worth the effort. The Club is providing a lot of support despite the late notice that we had of the event, and I am sure there will be a great display of Porsches there ( all models by the way) to celebrate an important year in the life of the marque.

Richard Watling

Hi Richard

Thanks for all the detail [:D]. Really looking forward to it.

Any idea when we should expect to be contacted by RIAT for ticketing?

If you have not already done so, you need to send me the details of your application to visitporsche@btinternet.com as shown on my earlier post. I will then carry out the registration and pass the data on in the next batch to RIAT who will be in touch to organise ticketing and payment.

If you have already registered then let me know under what name it is and I can confirm you are on the register. RIAT is starting the process of calling registered members next week so it should be over the next week to ten days that you would get the call.

Free tickets to Fairford

We have had an email from Richard Whatling with a request for some help during the weekend.

Hi Stuart

Would you cast the net to see if any members are interested in doing some marshalling duties at Fairford on either July 20 or 21. I hope to be able to offer a free entry weekend ticket with work on one day and viewing on the next. Or possibly a similar one day arrangement as I need marshals early in the morning to get all the cars settled at 0630 and then some lighter surveillance duties during the day . The good news is that you can see an air show from almost anywhere so they would not miss much.

If they are interested they can email me at visitporsche@btinternet.com or call 01285 770356.

Thanks in advance

Richard

A truly fabulous day out on Sunday! The flying display was quite exceptional and a splendid turn out of Porsches of all models and ages. Will definitely be there next year if we are invited again - and, if so, maybe we could be just a little more centrally situated...?![;)] Thanks to all who put in a great effort to make this happen.

I would like to thank all the people that sorted this out for
Us it was a great day and thank you very much jen from club
Shop who is always there to help us out and always has a smile
On her face thank again i hope we can go again next year

All

Yes I agree Saturday was an excellent day, the bbq at the end being a nice touch as well.

I agree the position could have been more central. It did mean however that only really interested people made the effort and reduced the risk of some idiot damaging the cars.

Thanks to all

Trevor

A very good point, as during our time sitting outside the race centre I saw various people trying the door of the white GT2, often youngsters being watched by their parents! If the display were done again at a more central location the cars would need to be roped off, as were the Bristols, Bentleys etc.
