Interior Rear headliner

Hi all, the recent wet snap has shown an interesting problem! The headliner at the back of the car (in between the boot and the sun roof) has warped out of shape and the fabric has come away from it. The fabric is still in good condition (which is good because it's classic grey and IMPOSSIBLE to find anywhere!). I've bought a new seal for the sun roof and will be checking the drain holes this weekend so hopefully that's the leak sorted.

As for the headliner, this isn't so simple. I cant find one for an s2 anywhere! I'm happy to buy one in the wrong colour and retire it myself but will a headliner from an earlier model fit?! Was the shape of this this part ever changed?

Ta!

The formed fibreboard? Theyre the same all the way through. A black one should be very cheap, as theyre pretty much worthless. I threw three or four away last year, so dont pay more than a few pounds.

I replaced mine for the same reason, got it from local OPC...it was very reasonable but can not remember how much it was black but they may have your colour[:D]

Are you sure the leak is the sunroof......I traced mine to the tailgate top right hand corner

Thats the one, brilliant! Aside from OPC, where would I pick one up from?! Also, I assume with some upholstery glue it's pretty easy to attach my classic grey material to the fibreboard?

In terms of the leak, I'm pretty sure it's the sunroof as I replaced the boot seal about 6 months ago because of a creaking hatch and a leak into the boot, the hatch pins were adjusted as far as I colud get them without jamming the damn thing!

Thanks for your help, this forum never lets me down!

If theyre cheapish as the other poster suggests then Id certainly try a few OPCs first, especially Exeter OPC. I doubt that youll be able to make it look alright if you attempt to transfter the vinyl though.

If you cant obtain a new part, or if its too dear, then Id pick up a cheap black one for the time being and wait until someones dismantling a car with the right colour trim (Id avoid letting them know how long youd been looking for though!).

There were a few greys over the 944-968 range, and not all were actually grey, so Id suggest that you establish the trim colour from the sticker on your service book or in the boot, first.

I think I remember someone (might of been in the States) making a fibre glass version of them.

I've just replaced mine with a cheap one from ebay, only cost a couple of quid. But mine is black so easier to find a 2nd hand good one.

Thanks for the part number Alasdair. I'll pop over to my local OPC later this week. Exeter is a bit of a stretch from Sheffield though!

I assumed that the vinyl wasn't shaped so I could just stick it on to another fibreboard, shame that.

Think other than that I'll keep my eyes peeled on eBay! Thankfully black parts look good on the interior with the classic grey so would work as a good stop gap.

The list price for Alasdairs part number is £88:52 (without discount and exc VAT). Thatd be about £120 delivered from somewhere like D911, but probably a lot cheaper from Exeter OPC.
