Happy Xmas from my car insurer…..

Boxster GTS 4.0 - last year £832 - this year £1350…….

Compare the market here I come…..

You may be disappointed.

Seems it has all gone skywards.

3x more when you go a day beyond your 80th birthday….

Been a lot of discussion on R17 group recently on this very subject, sounds like a nationwide issue driven by EV repairs and stolen Range Rovers which we will all pay for ☹️

Just renewed mine with LV @ £540, but obviously a lot goes into the premium calculations, location, age, history etc.

Have you taken delivery of your new 4.0 or just keeping the manual?

I’m with Admiral - will see whats on offer tomorrow…..that LV quote is interesting

Jurassic - I cancelled my new order as i found a really low mileage one with a far higher spec and after a session at Silverstone Porsche experience, I went for PDK. It was the right choice.

Give Admiral a call once you've done a comparison quote. I find they can be pretty amenable when it comes to their insurance renewals. Just check that LV cover PPF if you have it.

Mine is due in March..... I dread insurance day.

Fantastic result. PDK with the 4.0 is really awesome.

Dan, LV definitely have no issues with PPF, I checked with two different LV telephone advisors, once they understood it isn't a colour change wrap😅

Just had my multicar quote from Admiral (4 year old Cayenne Hybrid, 10 year old Boxster 981 GTS and 6 year old Smart Electric ForTwo Cab) premium £1,360.76 up from Last Year’s Premium £1,141.00 (so 20% up give or take). I am 63 years old, self and wife only drivers, both retired, max No Claims, Smart & Boxster are both on max 2000 miles a year and Cayenne is on 8000 miles a year as we simply don't go that many places. Home area is north Hampshire, all cars garaged

Friend who had a Range Rover stolen last year from his driveway in Chiswick sent me this article from the Sunday times couple weeks ago

.........and the quote from LV..........

£1814 []

Married, no claims, 55 years old and doing less that 5K a year.

You're right about the Range Rovers - round where I live (Upminster, Essex) - scumbags use our area for their late night shopping trips !

Back to Compare the Meerkat for me.

Rangies are being stolen for fun at the minute and then shipped off to Africa. Not good if you own a luxury SUV.

Holy smoke Batman! That's ridiculous.

Whaaaaat😱

Back to Admiral and used their online 'got a cheaper qoute' query option which got my monthly's to £111 against £85 last year.

Cheapest I could find was Churchill which came out just under a grand, but by the time I added PNCD, Courtesy car etc., the price was the same as the revised Admiral price.

That’s a big price hike Graham, but the insurers are saying that they’re making a loss on policies for many reasons, so it’s inevitable that drivers will be paying more.[:(]

You could try one of the specialist insurers like ClassicLine since they offer specially tailored policies for Club members - limited mileage, track day use, full UK and EU breakdown assistance and an agreed value.

If you reckon your quotes are high, I was talking recently to a Club member who has a friend living within the M25 who had bought a top-spec Land Rover. He was quoted more than £10k to insure it!😳

I was please and pleasantly surprised that mine, due on Dec 8th only went up £12 I'm with Locktons. Been with them 10 years and in that time it’s only £106 up from 2014s payment.

After looking around and really getting nowhere of any consequence stayed with LV.

2009 Boxster, 71 years old, 8K miles/year full NCB and been with them for about 6 years now (which might count for something?).

After a short phone call moaning about the rise on their invitation to renew it came down to about £15 more than previous year.

Not sure there is a simple calculation in play, but you really have little choice. (but to pay).

Not sure EV's have much effect on the losses, but can see the RR theft having quite an effect.

Many insurers are just trying it on, our buildings and contents renewal has jumped from £315 to £525, compare the market had the same company at £409. Other insurers prices are starting at £325.

My Lockton quote is for £57 more than last year; which isn't too bad considering what is happening.

I tried to get a quote from the new insurance venture from SC:UK. Their brokers said they couldn't get anywhere near the Lockton quote and told me to stay where I was.
