Guys
This thread is making my head spin at the size of your premiums. You dont indicate ages but I guess you are under forty.
I drive a 993 Turbo with factory power hike and, although I am 64, I only pay £375.90 with A. Manning (Allianz/Cornhill). This is fully comp with Porsche trackdays free.
Try your luck on 01491 578759.

Thanks John for the encouragement. Wow, you are blessed to be able to afford such cheap insurance and be able to enjoy the TT at your time in life. Indeed, I'm less than half your age, and I now have another incentive to retire/stop work soon! [ :D]

You got it, KYO.
I learnt not to go grey whilst working-slaved like hell and got out early-way to go.
Funny, though. How come an old fart with a very powerful motor is considered less risky than a mature, razorsharp stud with all his faculties at full blast?
Life is strange.

I think we've got to find a way for you to start lobbying our insurers and all those actuaries who have clearly got their "facts" wrong!! [:D]

KYO,
I whole heartedly agree! Insurance compnies on average load my premium by nearly £200 when I tell them my £7k 944 220bhp Turbo has Boxter alloys and stainless backbox fitted making it cheaper for me to insure a £30k 911 Turbo (if only I had one)! How does that logic work out?? Would they really prefer me to be driving a car three times the value with almost double the power?

I too used Norwich Union before and their renewal was about £100 more. I'm now with Asset Trust (01285841555). I do however have limited mileage cover. They also do "agreed value" for an extra £12.50

Have a word with Adrian Flux. I recently moved to them after the previous broker increased by £600 for no reason whatsoever! I'm 30 and have only two years ncb because I have another vehicle. The cost is £800 for a C2S, which I didn't find too unreasonable.

Try Tescos. We got £750 fully comp with all the bells and whistle (full NCB protection, age 40, car garaged in rural Wilts, driver and spouse, annual mileage 10,000).

Still, nowhere near JohnC with £375 for a 993 TT ! That must be some sort of record, either that or he lives on a very small island somewhere !

How the **** did you manage that ??

Oh and the other thing is they pay up when you have a prang and don't put up the price every year. We have been with them three years now, 964 and 993.

The prang was very minor and involved a reversing wombat and a one inch dent in the rear wheelarch.

Privilege was the best for me in March as a 30 yr old with 2 SP30's 2 claims and 5+ NCB.

I called every broker / insurance company and went to all the online companies.

They are part of Royal Bank of Scotland so same as Direct Line.....

In the process of a claim right now and so far very smooth....

I've just insured my '97 Targa with Sainsbury's Bank for £790. I'm 35 with one SP30. As the Targa is my second car most insurers wouldn't allow me much (if any) NCB even though I have 8 years NCB on my main car. My A4 Avant is insured with Sainsbury's too and they've been way way cheaper than anyone else for the A4.

As I've insured the Targa with them they've offered my 55% (3 years) introductory NCB so I hope to see my premium come down in subsequent years ? The did instist on have Tracker Monitor fitted, which luckily the car already had installed, so I only had to cough up the Tracker subscription.

When I was getting online quotes based on a full 8 years NCB, Norwich Union were the cheapest at about £650

Norwich union, give me competative renewals every year(i phone around) and they have my mods covered at no extra cost.

Very pleased with ClassicLine Insurance this year & only cost me £25 to increase mileage from 1500 to 3000 miles. Think original premium was around £325. [;)]

Hi Robert
Same age, rural location, garaged, full no claims. I've just had a renewal quote for my C4 from Admiral for £326 (£750 excess). However the C4 is sold (offer accepted) and with the purchase of my 993tt Admiral quoted £540. That seemed a bit steep so I shopped around and have taken a classic policy with Classic Line (recommended by a number of members) for £375 (only £250 excess) on limited milage of 5k pa for the turbo.

Thanks Stewart
Others may also be interested to know that I secured cover with Lancaster Insurance at what seems to be a very competitive £238.
Regards
Robert

Not less, but undoubtedly I'm a higher risk with 3 points and in a risky part of east London and 40 years old.

£499 from ClassicLine. They have been the cheapest for the past 4 years or so.

Try www.comparethemarket.com - I got my annual premium down from £690 to £284 (not a turbo) which was the lowest of 54 quotes it offered me, ranging up to £1600! Went with LV at £284. Painless (and you get a Meerkat!)

Manning UK seem to find good rates for me each year - they swap around underwriter depending on what's happening in the market. Not turbo or 997 but I'm sure they will find you something.

I have used RH Insurance services for some years. I got below £200 this year for a 993 with agreed value. This is a restricted mileage policy of 1500/yr but even a restriction of 5000 miles/yr adds about £60.

A contact from within the region mentioned a firm in Llandudno he had dealt with for years. They are called Gott and Wynne. Google them for a number and let me know how you get on.

Regards
Robert
