Insurance Salutory Tale

Its time to renew my insurance for my C4SCab, having seen complimentary comments regarding Lockton I decided to ask them to quote, bearing in mind last years cost with my local broker was just over £800.00, imagine my surprise when the quote came back at £1250.00, in order to test it I went to another much publicised by the Club broker Mayfair, their figure of £451.00 was in my opinion equally as wrong as Locktons but in the opposite direction, bear in my mind I copied and pasted my requirements from the Lockton communication to Mayfair so there could be no confusion in respect of the cover required.
I went back to Lockton and explained and they were immediately able to reduce their price to £853.00 which says to me that they had £400.00 up their sleeve, not happy.
I've ended up going back to my local broker who has provided exactly the same cover for £760.00, the moral of the story, be careful and always test the market.

My 991 4S with Marsh ( Porsche ) was around £560 in May, although it's cost me £40 since in adding a track day ( which I moaned quite a lot about )and a change in registration, so not bad overall.

Some while ago I felt obliged to phone Locktons for a quote so I did. I wasn't surprised that their quote was significantly higher than my current insurance through one of the big online quote engines. I did explain that I was a PCGB member that my insurance was due for renewal in 3 months' time: they said they'd email/post the quote to me that same week and to discuss with them before committing as they might be able to "do something" if they weren't competitive.

2 months' down the line I'm still waiting for their quote to arrive. No follow-up calls. I'm sure they're very good but I'm unimpressed.

They were very prompt in their response to me, but then with approximately 400.00 profit in the offing I'm not surprised.
