Insurance renewal

I could have reserected one of the threads I've been reading for ideas, but thought I'd start a new one.

So after hegerty have come back with a quote of nearly 800 pounds I've been ringing around.

Classicline want 450 for 3000k w/ trackday cover.
Paert havent called back
Locton only cover on the back of owning a Ferrari or Aston
Manning came in at 570 but want a tracker installed

and I rang a few others who dont offer track cover.

Any other ideas before I go with Classicline?

You've tried confused.com I hope, also try Aviva, they were my best quote last year for 6k at £520 in B13 postcode, ie not rural.

Have to confess, I've avoided these types of people due to the specialised nature of the cover. LHD, import, cage (but standard), trackday cover req. plus over 50k in value. General insurers seem to struggle. I had one say ah! Ive got the car model finally! Now is it the convertable version? *click*

Hugh,
Classicline do seem to have been coming up best over the last few months - I've ended up with them. Tracker seems to be a stumbling block when you are trying to get agreed values above £50k as you've, no doubt, been finding out .....

Jamie

Thanks Jamie - I'm really not keen on having someone messing around with the wiring loam. Classicline are edging towards the finish line!

I was in the same boat as you a couple of months ago Hugh - Classicline got my business in the end.

Been with classicline a few years now . So far been very good admin wise etc. Can only recommend them. Not had to claim so have no idea just how good when push comes to shove.

I have been with Classicline for years and have been banging on about how good they are for ages! It seems that over the past couple of years people are slowly beginning to agree. [:)]

Only because Hagerty [who incidentally were better, more competitive, gave away free hats and bags, nicer, had sexier sounding ladies on the phones, had blokes in sales who knew what RS meant, and were based at Silverstone] will no longer insure any of us! [:)]

I tend to judge the companies on whether they know the difference between a lwt and clubsport. Classic line, manning and hegerty pass the test. Still not found an alternative to classicline, and you lot are sealing the deal Will ring tomorrow to confirm.

Thumbs up for classicline from me too. My 964 was another defecter from Hagerty to Classicline. My premium was much less than yours for more miles (5K) but that's mostly because the value of a C2 is less than a quarter of an RS/NGT.

On the flipside, I found the Porsche specialists useless (very expensive) for my boxster daily driver. They simply don't want to insure a Porsche that's used for commuting. Compare the meerkat found me a much lower price for that one.

Hugh

I am not decrying Classicline but cheapest doesn't always mean best. I'm with Lockton and they have been excellent, track cover and agreed values plus they know the difference between lwt, NGT and Cup too (and yes I have one of the required cars, which helps). Just don't rush, a few pounds saved now will be not be remembered should you have an issue(s) with a claim.

Manning are underwritten by Allianz - the same as Hagerty. My premium pretty much the same as with Hagerty. Allianz known to resolve issues when the nightmare happens but they never call you - you have to keep calling them. []

Tracker fitment not a problem - no drilling and no breaking into the loom. [8|]

Classicline got my business, both Porsches with guaranteed valuations, plus my S4 Avant daily hack all for £1k and no trackers required.

Pleasant people, no hassle and very helpful.

Thanks for all the replies. I agree cheapest not always the best and its hard to compare policies over the phone sometimes. Hence asking here. I did have a good conversation with Lockton, they reminded me of Hegerty, I even suggested to Sarah that I need to buy an Aston Martin to enable us to insure the Porsche, she didnt see the funny side.

Paul what tracker have you got? I probably should consider one. I'm just worried about where it takes power from. I hate the idea of having someone mess with the electrics.

I liked Manning on the phone too, and I know a few of you on here use them, but the security requirement did put me off.

I think my Manning cover is better than the Hagerty cover I had. [:)]

Tracker Horizon + a lifetime contract. Don't go for a lower spec than Horizon. [8|] This may have just been superseded by the Tracker Locate which is more expensive and the duration contract is only 3 years. I can give you the details, if you PM me, for an installer that may have the Horizon still and you should be able to get the lifetime contract. [;)] After 3 years of ownership you're up on the deal. The installation was non-intrusive as I was having kittens about the car being irrevesibly damaged. []

Melv Classicline did the Cup for your agreed value. Needed referred to a Director and a few kicks but they came back with a great price.

Recommend you go there as they cover Porsche Club Track events including PCF.

Cheers Charles

AON/Footman James have become rather, er, restrictive, to say the least........what really pains me is that when they were still at Farnborough I had my own client manager that I could call.........now it's thru to a call centre.....[].....and all that implies................least it's in UK so I stand half a chance of understanding the Brummie accent!!!!

You got that car road registered yet?

See you next year.............poss sooner than you think!!![:D]
