Insurance Quotes

Now that the delivery of my car is imminent, I have been phoning all the usual suspects to arrange insurance cover. I've been amazed at the number of companies who aren't yet listing the 997!
Seems Norwich Union do, plus of course Porsche Insurance. Porsche also don't require a GPS Tracker device - which a number of other companies are specifying.
Where are fellow 997 owners placing their business?

Will more than likely go with Performance Marque, competitive premium, they mirror my max no claims held on other vehicles, also include cover for my wife under 30, PCGB track day cover F.O.C with on track excess £750 + other worthwhile benefits all for a very reasonable premium. No issues with chopping cover around for additional drivers, service car cover etc. have been very happy with there friendly service in the past.

996 4S gone waiting for 997S delayed to Jan build March Delivery!

I collect my 997S next weekend and have gone with Privilege Insurance. From shopping around the best premiums could be had from Privilege or First Alternative. Privilege have a mandatory £500 excess on Porsches and have to fit Tracker Horizon to get theft cover. First Alternative are on £700 mandatory excess with same Tracker.

I've been with Norwich Union for the last 5 years and they have taken on the 997, no tracker needed.

Did anyone notice the article in the papers last week about about the dip in car crime, seems modern vehicles are getting difficult to steal.

Don't say it is a 997. just say it is a 2004 onwards 911. we have them all listed.

If you have any problems see if they can trace it from the ABI code which is 40010602.

The best quote i got was with Privilidge - i actually thought that they were a division of Direct Line who insures my other cars ( and the house!)

I went back to LiverpoolVictoria - they still don't list the 997. They have a 2004 onward 911 but only list the 3.6 engine NOT the 3.8 of the S model. So i drew a blank with them.

Not anymore they don't not after a GT3 insured thru them on that deal spanked the barrier at Spa last year.

Lot of people now shopping around for a good deal to include PCGB track day cover.

[8|]I have been having difficulties getting a reasonable quote for my 997S due 1st March. Most companies won't touch a car worth over £50k. It will be garaged with 7 years NCB, clean licence and only 5,000 miles a year plus tracker and the best quote is Tesco £1530. Is this reasonble as I live in London?

Have you tried Priviledge? I started off being quoted £1500 - £1800 and ended up at £850 protected NCB with £500 excess.

That's not a good quote. Peart, who advertise in the PCGB mag are v. helpful. Paying about a £1k with 3 points for a 997S. Worth trying the others first, then they'll make a deal on your lowest quote, but better cover.

I pay less than £700 fully comp for a 996 Targa with Elephant.co.uk no tracker necesary.

Dont' expect tp pay much more than that when the 997 gets here.

Any more advice out there. The car is coming 1st March and Performance Marques are still the best. Lots of companies only list the 997 and not the S.

Be very careful with the small print at Elephant. The replacement value of the car will almost certainly be without factory fitted extras, so the insured value (and thus payout value in the event of a total loss) of your 997 S will be circa £65k, not the £70+ you will probably have spent on it.

Elephant were by far the cheapest when I insured my 4 year old Boxster with them last year but when my new 987 turns up in June I'll be looking elsewhere.

I'm 36, single, have a clean driving licence, full NCB with no claims in the last 14 years ... Jeez ... it almost sounds like a personal's ad!

Anyway, I've had a very hard time finding a half decent quote for a 997S. I'm going with Directline at £1526 with a £750 excess and any Tracker product fitted. Every other quote was £2k+ up to £3,300 which is just ridiculous. I'm just glad that the insurance quote phase is now over and I'm just looking forward to getting my hands on the car next week.

Interestingly enough Norwich Union, through Porsche, offered me a discount of £132 to put a second driver on the insurance. Apparently it works for them statistically. Having said that, they still quoted £2k+!

NU Direct quoted me £907.00 for myself and Liz 31yrs old no tracker required seems to be a large variation in cost

I was with Admiral for 5 years with my previous car and then switched to elephant (Admiral online) for my 997S. I'm 28 male single 6y ncb and am paying £700ish for fully comp with an excess of £250. I have no connection, other than paying them ever year to send me a few pieces of A4, and I have to say I've found Admiral / elephant very good.

When my new car arrived at the OPC, elephant spent 30 mins on the phone with me trying different combos to lower my premium. In the end they told me to add my g/f to get the best deal.

They quoted me £2,700 []
