Insurance for Bedford track day

Hi all,
I've just contacted my insurance company concerning the 'Track days included' clause to get the definition and what it really means. They have come back and said that 'Accidential damage is included if the track day is organised by or on behalf of your classic car club' and is not cometative. As I found out about the day on the 944 forum does that mean that the day has been 'organised on behalf of your classic car club' by association with the forum?

What's your thoughts?

Regards

Jason

Jason,

You won't be covered as it is an open pit lane event, we are just tagging along, it is not a club organised day.

That would be my understanding

it doesn't really matter what we think - all that matters is what your insurers decide.

some will cover any events with an ATDO registered organiser.

No, I would believe it would have to be an official PCGB track day to qualify otherwise anyone could just organise a track day via the forum to avoid extra insurance costs. They will probably still cover you for an extra premium. The PCGB days are good in that classicline will insure me for no extra cost but the days are often significantly more expensive than those organised by the likes of Javelin that its makes the potential savings meaningless.

Thanks for the input. The wording is very vague and as the day isn't specifically organised by pcgb so I'll assume I'm not covered under my normal policy.

Exactly that as I understand it. The whole reason the PCGB track days cost a bit more is because they are organised to a very high standard, and it's all fellow members who will have a lot more respect for each other. Insurers consider that a better risk, as there are less claims.

Not a negative comment; Bedford is a track day organised through a good company at one of the lower-risk tracks. Just an explanation of how the insurers will cover you for one trackday, but not another one, as they really value the way the Club ones are run.

Just for interest, until this year my insurer covered me for five trackdays per year with any organiser, as long as the circuit had an MSA trackday licence at no additional cost. As of this year they will only include one PCGB trackday for free and anything else is 75 quid a time. This is a huge policy change to take place over a single year. Maybe trackdays have become so popular there are now too many claims?
