Insurance at Millbrook / UTAC Driving Courses

I have just renewed my insurance policy with Classic Line for another year. They are happy to cover PCGB track days, as well as performance driving courses at PEC Silverstone where driving on PEC's handling tracks as well as parts of the main GP circuit are involved.

However, I have just found out today that driving at Millbrook is not covered even if it is an extension of a performance course at Silverstone and I am accompanied by the same Porsche driving consultant. Seems odd that they will not cover Millbrook but are happy to cover track days in the UK and Europe (except Nurburgring). Has anyone experienced this issue? If anyone here has driven at Millbrook, who were you insured by / what is the daily rate? Many thanks.

I have done a number of days with CAT Driver training, who are based at Millbrook. Their days are wholly safe IMO as they have the place pretty much to themselves. The instructors (only two) are extremely competent and won't let you take risks, but the training is excellent. Never bothered with insurance. The Club have had dedicated days booked with them in the past too.

I did a CAT day at Millbrook (Brilliant) and used Moris to insure the day, however in hindsight and if I do it again I won’t bother with insurance.

Thanks Longp2. Is this because they will not let you push the car much or there is plenty of run-off areas?

The instructors are superb, keep you in check and at no point did I feel that I was pushing my car too much, plus millbrook does have speed limits depending on the part of the proving ground you’re using - 150mph on the bowl and national limits on the alpine route so you’re always well within the cars limits.
It’s a great day and one I’d love to do again as a group if the chance came up.

Thanks again, makes more sense now. I did not know about the national limit.
They are running the PDGDs at Millbrook this year. All sold out, except for 12th July and 31st August when I enquired on 22nd Feb. Cost is £595 with 1 hour 40 minutes of driving time (in total) and very long waits (personal view) in between.
Much prefer the full day with 5.5 hours of driving but the cost jumps to £1,550 for PCGB members. The "ring" there looks very tempting!!

The CAT days are very different to PEC. You get really valuable instruction both in the car but also with whiteboard sessions in between driving sessions. Understanding why your car, and particularly the 911, acts the way it does is educational when put into practice.
I wasn’t aware of the seat time, but plenty in my experience. Nor was I aware of any speed limit in the Alpine course, last time I was there we were chasing up to the hairpin at considerable leptons…

Not sure if the PCGB discount applies to the CAT day I am interested in.
"Insuremytrackday" just came back with a premium of £702.50 to cover a single driving day at Millbrook - bonkers!

I had the same problem with insurance, with ClassicLine not covering Millbrook. Thankfully Moris, which someone noted above, came in at £250 for the day which is by far the cheapest I could find. All other providers I tried wanted more than the cost of the CAT fee for one day insurance.
