Insurance - again!

For me its that time of year again.

Hegarty are putting my renewal up from 396 to 496, a whole £100pounds!! They tell me this is the same for all their modern classics (newer than 1989), anyone else had the same expereince?

Plus who is worth ringing around for a rewenal?

Manning seem to work for me.
Always seems to be the same price even though agreed value goes up every year.
 
i think we should have a insurance sticky at the top of the page. When someone renews they could post up there renewal or quote. It would give a good idea of who's giving the best deals. Mine always seems to be in the £450-550 sort of ballpark . Could be due to living darn sarf I suppose. That's with 3k milaeage limit .
 
OK so quick update Classic line want £565 and want an alarm fitted.

A. Manning....£715.

I really dont want an immobiliser fitted to the car. I hate cutting into the electrics. Hegarty might still get my custom I think....more time to spend on the phone.

Oh well worth ringing around I guess.
 
My renewal premium went up with Hagerty last year - but I stayed with them after phoning around and receiving higher quotations from various companies including those mentioned above.

"¢ In 2008 I paid £368 total with Hagerty.
"¢ 09 renewal premium offered was £417 total.
Both figures above based on agreed value of £42K, 5000miles per year, £350 excess, 38yr old company director, no claims or convictions, garaged in Glos.

I changed a few details as I needed to increase the value after two years at £42k, I wasn't using my full mileage allowance anyway and I didn't mind upping the excess by 50 quid.

After a call to Hagerty I found there was some flexibilty and we finally agreed on:

"¢ 09 renewal premium of £380.
Based on agreed value of £52k, 3000miles per year, £400 excess.

I'm sticking with Hagerty for another year and will see what happens at renewal in Aug 2010 - I anticipate raising the agreed value again next year in line with increase in RS values.

I'm already on £750 excess, but 5000 miles and a £50k value. But i'm going to have up that a bit I think. Will call them this PM and see what I can do.
 
Hugh, for what it's worth I have an agreed value on mine of £70k.

Yes it's just done 100k Km, but the engine was completely rebuild with new everything 15k Km ago and --- it's been the beneficiary of a lot of fairly expensive TLC within the last two years ...

It's not difficult to invest a fair wad in remedial work which has to be an investment of sorts on an 18 year old car [8|]
 
mine was with classicline until last year . Now have laid up cover with Aon . Will be back on the road next year though.
 
Thanks Chris, yes, I'm going to up mine, and maybe seek a valuation. I keep ploughing money in so agreed value seems the right approach to reflect that.

I'm with Aon via Footman James (0845 458 6792)- they offer a multicar policy which may be worth considering depending on your circumstances.

I pay £1k per annum - based on

964RS agreed value £70k
968CS agreed value £16k
BMW Alpina B10- no agreed value

£500 excess
There are no mileage limitations, and I can use any of the vehicles for commuting

Haggerty wanted ~£750 for the 964RS and 968CS with agreed values, and mileage limit of 3k per annum per car,they would not insure my Alpina since it is a daily driver.

I have three cars insured with them --- 5,000 miles each, track days cost 10% of the individual insurance cost per day, agreed values on each, I am allowed to drive to and from work (which is one way I keep the cars regularly driven --- but it's secure parking), for an annual premium of close to £1500.

964RS CS, 993RS RHD dev car, GT3 MkI CS ...

One advantage is that if two drivers are both insured with Hagerty, then both can drive each other's cars on a fully comp basis ...

Me too.....for same reasons. Hagerty, or rather Allianz who actually provide the cover, seem to take a common sense approach re track days which is refreshing.

I'm with hagerty for all my cars and wouldn't change for the world. Mega competitive for multicar policies and just incredibly easy to deal with and highly knowledgeable. Get my thumbs up. Insurance is totally pointless.... Until you need it and boy will you be pleased you are dealing with someone that helps when you do.

Is this from personal experience? Would be useful for us insured with Hagerty to know how Allianz let you down in the past.

Only opportunity insurance companies have of showing real value is when you need to claim - sole tangible evidence of service and what you are paying your money for. I'd be interested in hearing what happened iro Allianz also.
 
Allianz were the insurers on my RS when it had its slight knock.

They were fantastic. No quibble, confirmation of repair irrespective of cost.

One of the reasons I'm happy with Hagerty also is that they are Allianz too.[:D]
