I would be grateful for information / experiences in finding a company that refurbishes 911SC instruments please. The speedo on my car still gives the speed indication but the odometers have both stopped recording. Many thanks for any help.

I had the same problem. The little plastic cogs inside the unit basically get brittle with age and lose their teeth (not unlike some esteemed senior members of PCGB ??)

When I was having my engine rebuilt, the guys at http://www.rpmtechnik.co.uk sent the speedo off to a bloke who stripped it down and replaced the offending cogs, and generally gave it an overhaul. Key thing is, he can do this without disturbing the anti-tamper seals on the back of the speedo, so it doesn't look like the car's been clocked.

I'm sure if you contact RPM they will put you in touch. If not, give me a shout here.

Mine failed half way into our tour of France on the way to the Le Mans Classic last month!
I followed the instructions on the Pelican website and mended it myself, buying the replacement gear from Odometer in the US.
IF you do it yourself don't follow all the Pelican instructions, you don't need to remove any of the screws on the rear of the speedo; lever up the bezel, pull off the needle, take out the two screws holding the face on, and you will see 4 screws that hold the Odometer and Trip mechanism to the base assembly. Taking these 4 screws out, you can lift off the mechanism, dismantle it and replace the broken gear.
The hardest part is taking off the needle.
Good luck.

Many thanks for all advice and help. I submitted a website enquiry to Reap on 11 August but have not yet had a reply. Maybe they are on holiday.

Julian Reap has now phoned me. The quote for servicing, repair and clean using existing dial etc. is £150 incl VAT and return postage.
Thanks for all help received.
