Indicator switch

My indicator switch has stopped self canceling on the n/s. Is it possible to fit a mk2 golf switch rather than a Porsche switch. It may be easier for me if you can as i work for a vw garage.

I don't think so. I replaced a friend's indicator switch about 4 months ago, on his S2, as it stopped cancelling. The part was nothing like a VW part (pretty crude in comparison.)

(This was on an oval-dash car. I don't know what the situation is with the square-dash ones.)

If its a series one car then it is a Volkswagen switch. The Porsche part on series two cars is unique though.

Just the stalk, check e-bay and specialist breakers, i have just bought a gear knob and gaiter from only 9 (James) great service and a good price and the item is in great condition.
My Turbo S also had this problem seems to be quite common, be careful when removing the dashboard trim the trim around the starter key can break easily.

forgot to say it's an s2. looked on vw parts and it looks similar.
I guess I will have to wait untill I take it apart to look, it may have some numbers on?

Unfortunately the part includes both stalks as a complete assembly and costs about £150. You could try a breakers but you don't know how long that one will last, though if it is only a tenner then you can work your way through a fair few before you're out of pocket.

I think the friend whose stalk I replaced paid £25 for the replacement, but it was clean and worked fine, and all the decals on it were fully intact.
