Importing cars

Hello people, im new to this part of the forum and im thinking purchasing a 911 sc, im also considering importing,dose any one have any experience with importing cars from Germany or the states ... the question I'm really asking is how can i, get round paying import tax and do i, have to pay import tax on a car from Germany or any other European country ?[:)] Thanks Steve.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
 
Phillipps44 is incorrect in his assumptions. Provided car is over 6 months old and Taxes already paid in EU no need to pay tax. I paid no taxes on my 993RS having bought this in Germany and imported it personally. I drove the car back - requires continental export plate and continental insurance and UK insurance to cover the car on chassis number when it arrives in UK until you get the car certified by VOSA, MOTd and taxed when you can notify the UK insurance company of its new number plate. The American cars will be subject to import duty and VAT unless you can show that Euopean taxes have been paid (ie originally European registered then imported into USA) which will add I believe 27.5%.
