If you think the Panamera is horrible ;-), look at this!

Could be a good project for someone with spare cash knocking about :ROFLMAO:

Rough 924S - £1000
Supercharger £3000
KW fitted £1500
Turbo brakes £500

Total cost £6000 for an 1170kg track car with just under 300bhp (and that's with full interior, lose another 100kg from some stripping and bucket seats to make it really interesting)

I don't think any of these kits will work well without some form of charge cooling, even on the 951 the increase from 160 Bhp to 250 Bhp combined with the stock intercooler still results in charge temperatures way above that of an NA engine. ISTR Porsche quoted the temp at the turbo outlet of 175 degrees reducing to 100 degrees after the intercooler, which in turn has knock on effects for EGT's. A nice front mounted IC would round it of combined with perhaps a piggy back ECU and fifth injector. Basically the kit looks very much like the one from up North but cheaper (ISTR the same supercharger)

I love watching that show, if you start from the premise that all of their creations are hideous compared to mass manufactured cars which are refined over and over by design engineers, then it really isn't that bad. All of the cars have a theme and presence that sort of works.

I remain somewhat sceptical that the true power output is anything close to 292bhp. If it is then I wonder how long until something more significant than the head gasket got pop?

I like watching the show too and generally I think the mechanical work is OK (if somewhat bodged). However, the quality of the metalwork modifications makes me cringe. Basically Leepu and his crew merely tack weld the pieces onto the car and then cover them with a mass of filler! The bits added are not properly welded- over time the filler will crack due to flexing of the tacked on bits of metal. This is most definitely not skilled coachbuilding. I see no evidence for any protection on the underside of the metalwork either.

Combined with the somewhat cavalier engineering (I agree- that supercharger is going to blow the next head gasket soon or the pistons.) I can't see any of these "creations" lasting more than a couple of years in regular use.

The show research certainly isn't:

The show/"garage" presumably has a budget.

So they opt for two 944 shells (OK, the "storyline" demanded it, so why not) and the grunt via supercharger (OK without knowing what else they did, difficult to comment on, though my money is on the Lux transmission blowing up before the next head gasket, if it were to become a real car).

The bit where I started to wonder which alternate reality I had slipped into was when they chose to produce one off disks and callipers. I mean it's SOOO difficult getting bigger brakes for Porsches off the shelf. Or is the show, like James Bond, going to turn into Product Placement Royale?!

Same here, if that's close to the genuine figure then that's an awful lot of boost [].
I haven't seen the programme, but think it's great that the 944 is getting some decent TV exposure at the moment.
