I Think I Just Had A Moment

Just seen the new Audi R8 advert tonight fo the first time. Now that's how you sell a car!!!

I had the pleasure of going round the R8 factory as part of the Porsche factory tour last year. An amazing place (both of them)... the R8s are more "handbuilt" than our beloved Porsches... Would love to have been able to see how '44s were put together there... Back on topic... I am guessing that is the rolling road they all go on before they go out of the door.

Excuse me for butting in boys. I know this isn't normal for a girl but saw the ad last night for the first time during Wall Street and luckily had it recording. Just had it on max on the Bose a few minutes ago, goose bumps still not gone down!

Don't worry, when Claire sees it I am sure the Mustang posters will be coming down and R8 pictures going (back) up!

I drove an R8 round Oulton a few years back (not V10 unfortunately). I wanted to hate it - lardy 4WD audi etc.. but it was very nice - brakes a bit over servoed but everything else was very good. Made the Ferrari 360 i drove on the same day feel extremely second rate (mind you, best was the caterham roadsport [:D])

I've never really been a fan of one of the R8s, because rightly or wrongly, i've always been of the opinion that why wouldn't you get a lambo if you can afford an r8, don't they have the same engine? (closet lambo fan), however that advert is simply stunning.

Please please read the comment from someone whose girlfriend said why is it on a treadmill[:D][:D] roflmao

LMAO! Just went back and read that, very funny! With you on the R8, as nice as it sounds and as good as the ad is, if I had that money to spend on a car an Audi wouldn't be on shopping the list, although an old Quattro maybe...... [8D]

This man speaks sense. The cost of an R8 spent elsewhere would buy a stable of much, much more interesting machinery. And yes, if I had the odd spare £90,000 then a good UR-Quattro would be one of the many things I would buy ...

Oli.

We had a good chat about this very subject at Bedford today. It seems odd that of all the exotic brands in the VAG group (Bentley, Lambo, Porsche etc) they chose to put an Audi badge on their latest £90,000 supercar????

Why not.
Audi has been making classy, practical cars for years. It only makes sense to heighten the brand with a well made reliable supercar.
