I found these cables, what are they for?

Was wondering if any of you knew what the following was for? I found 2 cables running below my electric sports seats. i have not got heated seats and they have no connectors on the end. Each cable has 4 cables inside them, 2 black, 1 black with red stripe and 1 black with white stripe. They go all the way back uner the timber part in the passenger foot well and up. Haven' t got to find where they come in, but previous owner seems to have taped the ends under the seat where a connector plug may have been. Any advice would be great, as i was intending removing them if it was safe to do so.

One would assume that they are not cables for extra seat adjustments (my 3.2 has spare cables, as my current sports seats do not have electric back/front adjustment which the originals had, but they just lay harmlessly under the seats - with connectors, of course).

If they appear to serve no purpose, then either leave them - suitably insulated, of course, with heatshrink sleeves or the like, or cut them off at source, with the same proviso about insulation.
 
They could be for the heated seat element option.

Turn on the ignition and stick your tongue on the end. If you contact the steering wheel violently with your head and shriek with pain it is a sure sign that they are live.
Carefully re-tape the ends, replace the carpet and stop worrying - have a nice cup of tea.

Do I detect a certain sadistic streak in you ?

I simple light bulb test would have sufficed, but oh no, that would be too easy.

Have you ever tried to hold the ends of two fiddly wires AND hold one of those silly torch bulbs AND make a sensible contact AND lie in the lightwell????

The tongue test seemed such an easy alternative - but - perhaps you are right.....[:D]
