I can't decide on colour

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be ordering my 718 Cayman next week, but I can't decide on the colour.

I went to the 718 Cayman Drive event last week at Silverstone and saw pretty much every colour. But even that hasn't helped me.

I'm going to be keeping the car for a long time so I need to make sure I get a colour I'm happy with... so not too much pressure.

For weeks now I've had my heart set on Miami Blue, but the last few days I've started to doubt that. Other colours I'm thinking of are Night Blue, White, GT Silver (love the 911 R with the stripes and GT Silver, but normally not a silver lover), Lava Orange or Carmine Red.

I'm happy with the rest of the spec, just wish I could decide on the colour.

Decisions, decisions.
 
Well I've seen a Miami Blue car in the flesh and thought it looked stunning, not sure if that helps though ??

 
No pressure, its the first thing you see every time you open the garage door,, get it wrong and its a nightmare[:-]

If I was unsure rather than take a standard colour or option colour which could cost you upto £1500 why not take the bespoke route?

PTS cost £2800 - Perhaps that's the way to go?[;)]

 
Well Richard, Porsche's 718 Cayman launch colours were Miami Blue and Graphite Blue Metallic. They should know thing or two about the best "show" colours for the car.

To me, Miami Blue is very eye-catching, but in the end you've just got to decide which colour suits you best - we can't help you there.

I know no-one can help me choose, just wanted to air my frustration at myself and my indecisiveness!!

i took a white one out today, still really like it in white. I think whatever colour I decide itll have to be a light/bright one.

Im ordering it next Saturday, super excited as it'll be my first Porsche.

 
Its very hard choice, if it's too hard always go GT silver, it's a classic and much nicer than the free silvers.

I really don't like "Miami Blue" btw.

Your best bet is to take a look at a few and see which takes your fancy. You really need to see the whole car rather than decide just from samples. The guys are Reading are usually helpful if you pre-arrange your visit. Take a look around the compound. You'll find most combinations there and it will greatly help, providing you are within a reasonable travelling distance, that is!

I'm going for Graphite Blue metallic.........I think!

Same dilemma for me. I have to decide soon. I'm waiting to see what colours are delivered to my OPC before I finally decide. I've owned 3 Cayman's, Arctic Silver, GT Silver, and Meteor Grey. Feel like a change from silver.

I think Miami Blue would wane on me after a bit. Carmine Red and Guards Red appeal more to me. Flame Orange one of those colours I fear I would get fed up of pretty soon.

I am also arranging a decent duration test drive of a 718 CS PDK before I finally confirm my spec.

I've actually seen most of the colours, all together. I went to Silverstone the week before last for the 718 Cayman Drive Event, and this is when my confusion really started.

I've liked Miami Blue since the beginning, but then seeing some of the other colours really got me thinking. And then driving the white one this weekend just added to it.

I'm going to be keeping this car for a while so I have to make the right choice.

 
You can't go wrong with white IMHO. It accentuates the lines, doesn't go out of fashion, hides chips and marks quite well and is easy to keep looking clean and smart. Won't clash with the wife's outfits either! [;)]

That's a fair point about white Clive. I've owned several white cars and concur with your comments.

Road rash is an issue with all Cayman's, and white does indeed hide the chips and rash reasonably well.

Also with white, you can always accent it with a tasteful wrap in a contrasting colour.......now you've got me thinking!

What's road rash?

There is one thing I'm thinking of doing with a white one, putting on the stripes from the 911 R. Really like the green ones, and the Porsche lettering on the doors.

How owe would I go about getting these, anyone know of a good vinyl company that could copy the idea?

I was smitten with racing yellow before ordering mine and would have been very tempted with Lava Orange and Miami Blue had those colours been available on the 981 without ordering PTS. I went for white on the basis that it is inoffensive, still looks great on the older cars and never really dates. It's an easy colour to touch-up stone chips etc. Like Clive says, it accentuates the lines,(you also don't tend to see the side and front bumper vents as clearly on dark/black coloured cars. I also think it tends to look cleaner than the dark colours even when it could do with a wash. I think it shows off the brake calipers well on the S/GTS/GT4. I also plan to keep the car for many years and would still have made that choice six months later. On the 718, it will also enhance the look of the rear black Porsche panel. Here's a photo of mine on delivery day.
