How many non-sunroof cars ?

OK so if I build a 944 'CS' i would want a non-sunroof eary car - anyone have a feeling on how often these come up for sale ? doesnt seem to be very often ...

I started a thread on this a while back. The conscensus was that there are quite a few square dash kicking about sans sunroof, however they are fewer in oval dash circles. The turbo s all came sunroofless but seem to be few and far between outwith those.

I have a sunroof free MY90 turbo which was why I was curious. Sunroof delete models do seem the preferred choice for track day cars for a number of reasons. They are also much less likely to leak! [;)]

Both my 924 auto and 944 squaredash are non-sunroof. My 924 manual has a sunroof that leaks-I wish it didn't have one ....[8|]

My '86 turbo has the sunroof.

I'd much prefer it didn't. Taken off the draught is too much.

I love driving my 86 Turbo with the roof removed, it's a big hole that let's plenty of light and air in like a cab but with the extra strength of a coupe. Mind you the older I get the heavier the roof seems when removing it...:(

I have an early 944 that was probably a non-sunroof version but at some point it has been fitted with a glass tilt type sunroof as well as being converted to oval dash. I did plan on restoring it until I got a S2 so I will probably break it now.

Mike,
they are getting quite rare, but saying that a trawl in auto trader for '88 and '89 vintage turbo's will find them. I have seen turbo S's where the seller does not realise the rarity, the sunroof seal is conspicuous by its absence in the photo's and there's a switch missing by the gear lever.
Was it 1635 Turbo S cars made do I recall?
I have a project one - original S (and stated on V5) but could be nice once I get time for it. Saying that, I use the sunroof tilt on my daily driver 944t, and would miss it.
Of the 3 s/r cars I have had none leak at the roof, but thats not saying none leak.[8|]
good luck if you are after one
