How long does it take to purchase a 997?

Sport exhaust is a must IMHO.

Otherwise is your preference 2 or 4wd ? as there’s a big variation in feedback, have a try of both if you can.

I have been trawling through posts discussing the purchase of a Porsche. I'm ready to buy a 997.2 C4S but I'm starting to worry I maybe missing something off my list as I have found a number of cars at dealers that seem to fit my spec:
1. Coupe
2. Manual
3. Less than 45k mileage
4. Sports seats would be nice but not a deal breaker
5. Budget 45k
6. Reliable warranty
7. Don't want silver

There seems to be a good choice out there, is it that easy or should I be looking for specifics like the sports exhaust etc?

I agree with Andy but also full service history either OPC or good Indy, when I looked for my 996C4S nearly 9 years ago I had a list as well only deviation was tiptronic instead of manual but its fine and only 35,000 miles provable. Also get a 111 point check from your local OPC worth its weight in gold best £200 I spent![]

I may be able to help you out I have been a club member for over 25 years I currently have just put my 997 C4S gen 2 (2010) up for sale, it has fully OPC service history 36k, only 2k since service last year, has great spec including sport exhaust, & sport seats, seats, etc etc Meteor Grey not silver, but I am after bit more than your budget. let me know if interested. I am lucky that I have a few other toys to use hence not used much. Fern

When I decided to go for the 996 C4S over the 997, was advice from numerous sources, that they would advise against (and one Indy wont sell S 997 Gen 1s because of their experience with the engines) 997 Gen 1 'S' models and by your list, it looks like that's been settled anyway, as you want 997.2. Personally, I'm a topless guy, over a coupe, but as others have stated Sports Exhaust too for sure, and maybe PASM, but again, that may be a personal choice. I also didnt want silver, mine was purely from a 'you're hard to see in fog and drizzle safety perspective', however, if the car is right, you may wait a long time for the right colour, so, I wouldn't rule silver out TBH, but just my opinion, as I was more sold on the car in person, than in the photos.

Hi, I have literally just collected my 997 Gen 2 Cab C2S - sorry but it's Silver..!!

I had a list, would have preferred a coupe but my wife wanted the cab - either way it's an absolute dream car for me, it's fully loaded too, except sports seats, which was on the list but not a deal breaker..!

I paid 40k (sept 2018) with 40k miles on the clock for a 2008 with full OPC service history so I think you might have to put some work in to get the C4S for under 45k with the mileage and package that you seek as the Gen 2's seem to be sought after and maintain a premium due to the fact that there aren't many out there.

FYI - the Sports Exhaust is a must, for any man with this magic button, I challenge you to not have this switched on..!!☺

You could consider a gen 1, and if you are worried about the IMS, after 2006 you'll have the revised bigger bearing. If you cannot find the right car as it's missing the sports exhaust, then you can go for the Gundo Hack £250. This is the same as having the sports exhaust on all the time, which I think most do...

Keep looking, and be prepared fo move fast! Just after Christmas I mised out on a 997.2 c2s manual with only 29,000 on the clock and sports chrono in a lovely blue for £45k because I wanted to test a few other cars (it was only the first day of looking when I saw it, and I wanted to test a PDK). Tested a PDK the next weekend, decided manual was definately for me, but missed out on the car by just a few hours.

The cars are out there, I pick up a 997.2 c2s manual hopefully next weekend, 39,000 on the clock and sports chrono, shame not Aqua Blue like the other one, but it looks good in Meteor Grey and has full OPC service history (and it is cheaper which is a bonus). Cannot wait - been my dream to own one for as long as I can remember (unfortunately I cannot get the 964 Turbo that was my poster car as a child!)
