How long did your 944 clutch last?

Time for another survey.

Most of us have pretty good service history documentation so I thought it would be interesting to see how long each clutch has lasted before replacement. Obviously some models will chew them up more than others, and driving style plays a big part, but lets see what the figures throw up.

For instance as far as I can tell my S2 is still on the original at 142,000 miles yet my Turbo had a new one at 75,000.

I' ve allowed multiple posts for those of you who get through clutches at the traffic light Gand Prix []

As far as I can tell, my car is still on its original clutch too, having recently passed the 112,000 mile mark. Not bad shooting, I would suggest! [8D]
Had thought, recently, that the clutch might be on its way out, as first gear had become very difficult to engage, but it turned out that the gear linkage had seized and was fine after being taken apart, re-greased and re-built. [:D]

Just changed the original clutch during my recent engine rebuild. Had done c 94,000 and had less than 1,000 miles left on it according to my mechanic.

Regards

Phil

Mine lasted 113k, A little frustrating as there was loads of friction material left on the plate. It was the rubber brushes that caused juddering when I let off the throttle. A expensive job , but much nicer to drive now.

When i had my 951, the local OPC told me my clutch would soon need replacing, this was at 90,000 miles, I sold car with 183,000 miles on it and still with the same clutch !

Finally got around to checking on mine. Neither looks to have had one, but the Turbos is worn out. Still that's 153k and the cab has almost 162k on the clock.

Poll only let me vote once though.

Edited by Paul: Ok I have added another one to the over 150k mark

Still on the original clutch at 102000.

Looking at the paperwork, I reckon the car was used as a daily driver early in its life maybe in places with heavy traffic, but the latter half looks like cherished use.

Im still on the original (I think) at 142k.
I have noticed if I down shift from 3rd to 2nd I get some juddering, unless I bring the revs up with the accelerator. So probably is needing a new clutch, or flywheel skim.

Talk about a thread resurrection! haven't seen a thread with Fen's name on it for years.
To answer the question my last clutch was changed at 143K.

My car has 88,000 on what as far as anyone can tell is the original clutch. When Hartech did a major service and inspection report on the car at 83,000 they reckoned it was somewhere around half done, and I don't do any significant urban driving in the car, nor do I do Grand Prix starts, so I have ticked the 140,000 mile box as a best guess.
