How does your other half view your 944 ?

Jayne, would probably love to see the back of both of them ! she does not like sitting in the 220 (too low) i cannot remember the last time she was in the Turbo S ! she would not drive them for fear of a major domestic should she damage it and she would !
She whimpers and braces herself should i hit the loud pedal, she has never mentioned it, but probably resents the time and money i spend on cars, i will not change, it is not a mid life crisis thing i have always had a car hobby since i was 15/16.
Unashamedly 100% petrolhead [:D]
I also spend a lot of time on the rivers and lakes fly fishing, get to the footie though not as much.
Kids are well clothed and well fed, we live in a nice house................Problem ?
I am well aware and strive to put in family time, but i also strive to put in Jim time.
I could be down the pub or betting office !
Long time dead lads, ENJOY [;)]

I think secretly she likes it,but would never admit it.
She calls it my hairdressing car (white s2cab,blue roof/interior)
I even offered her a 996 to sweeten her up but she says she likes her 14 yr old Seat Cordoba diesel!!

She thinks its too low, too black inside, too violent when you give it full throttle in second and not as quiet as the Merc.

And it gives her stomach-ache ache when i corner too fast.

But she's happy that it I'm happy with my 944.

I recognise that! She has frequently referred to the 944 as "a stupid car". I tried a different tack, by popping her into the driving seat of a Boxster I was looking at. Her immediate comment was "wow, this is great", second comment was "it's only got two seats". Result... they had a lovely black 996 as well. "hmmm - that's got 4 seats" i helpfully pointed out. Don't think she was fooled for a second, but she did play along. However this is ISA month, so lovely black 996s will have to wait for a bit.

My other half owns the 944!
She's owned it for 8 years and still loves it.
Must admit, from the first time I drove it, I've never got on with it.
Probably doesn't help that I am the one that has to mend it, polish and quite often wash it.
Wouldn't be so bad if she was a 20 year old nymphomaniac and could return the favours!

My wife tolerates the 944. She will happily be a passenger for a trip away for a weekend but only drives it if her car is away for service or somesuch. She is even less keen on a slightly more rusty classic rangie as its old and slow, too slow for her liking.
Good for trips to the tip though.

My wife loves the 944 and thinks of it as her car, which is fine as she keeps her hands off my 911. We know the 944 won't last for ever and she will be sad when it dies.

This attitude only came to light when she drove the car, and then she wouldn't let me drive it. Before that she used to be quite rude about 944s and called said the were as bad as Capris. Luckily I convinced her what a great car they are and we haven't looked back...

I had that with my 944 turbo cab. Fortunately I broke the engine before going to court and got it down valued. Decree nisi is approaching next week. Followed shortly by some serious engine work
You're a long time dead

Great statement Jim [:D]

Food on Table, kids clothed, holidays abroad, Audi A3 for the wife .... YES

It could be worse, I could be in the pub every night and come home drunk and give her a slap because my tea is cold [:-] At least she knows where I am and what my money is going on (except my cash slush fund [;)] )

Since my first Porker was a 944S2.....

Sue loved it and used to occasionally commute in it -said she liked nothing better than viewing the cars rear 'hips' in the wing mirrors before nailing it and watching cars behind disappear....[:D]

Really.........What in an S2??[;)]

Really!! Nineteen years ago it seemed to be one of the quicker cars around....

My wife ,Irene has driven since we had been married 2 yrs ,I got a company car-Ford Cortina 1500mk2 with airflow dash vents & she got our Austin A30 tuned with twin SU's,Peco exhaust exiting under the passenger door. Then she had an 850 Mini,Aquaplane alloy head,1.5" Su,Janspeed exhaust,Cooper S dizzy, etc, followed by 2 MGB GT's in quick succession followed by our (her) 1st Porsche ,a 924 Lux around 1982 with her 924S in 1991,only the 2nd lady owner.

We then bought our 964 C2 for her to also drive because she had always fancied one,but sadly had to sell because of some legal costs 2 yrs ago.
I then bought the red 924S for a trackday car which she also drives as well as her original 924S,but struggles a bit with the manual steering.

So whilst I get some stick about the track day car, that is all as she adores her 924S & drives it quite competitively but now wants a replacement for the 964 because she found she got less trouble from "boy racers " & whitevan man particularly on motorways.

Edited to say:-because we wanted her to have a 944 but she preferred the simple lines of the 924S-I think it qualifies under this post heading.

My other half loves driving my S2, hates being a passenger and hates how much time and money I spend on it. She also guesses at how much I've spent on it in total which I deny and tell her to stop being silly. In actual fact of course her guesses are considerable underestimates... [:D]

<snigger/> Carol has her own forum account so I ain't saying nothing [8|]

Hard to say really, she hasn't spoken much on the subject since I sold her and the kids to the white slave traders to pay for the clutch and bodywork...

My wife loves our S2 so much that when I upgraded to a Turbo she refused to let me sell it so it became hers, it is a ladys car after all [;)]

My S2 arrived on a trailer as a (practically) non runner but my wife still declared she liked it!
She said she looked foward to a weekend away in it without the kids ( approx 5 years from now but she doesn't know that yet).
Then she went to Macclesfield Audi and bought an A5 cabriolet.
Methinks she speaks with forked tongue.

I`ve had/build a few cars and the wife did like the 944T as a long distance cruiser - especially in Europe where you really do appreciate what it was built for. It was the quickest most comfortable car on a long run I have ever owned.

I have an early MX5 (eunos) which I was going to strip and track but she`s adopted it and wont let me touch it - she loves it. In fact so do I and heartily recommend them but I still hancker for another 944T and envy you all.
