Hood replacement

Raj has done such a splendid job with the hardtops that I wonder if something could be done with the roof itself. I don't do enough winter motorway driving to justify a hardtop. However, my roof could do with replacement ... plain black one.

Any ideas? Would there be any takers?
 
Just had a quote for replacing hood due to damage to rear screen Approx costs £1300 +VAT for the hood and £300 to £600! +VAT for fitting both prices from OPC's!

[;)]You should check out Replacement Hood Companies ... They will be far cheaper, and many of them do the actual work for dealers in the first place [:D]
C E Moore Coach Trimmers in Park Royal London 0208-961-2225 Haven't used them in years, as no need, but they use to have dozens of 911's BMW's etc all in from dealers who would no doubt be doubling the charges for taking and fetching back there customers cars ...
 
I've seen hoods advertised for £500-700.

I can't see why fitting it should be beyond anyone who can tie their own shoelaces.

I got a quote from moores at £450+VAT and from Porscheshop @£50 +VAT just for doing the screen But as my insurance is picking up the cost I thought I'd get a new hood as well
 
Try Autohoods

I need one also, so waiting for someone to have one, then recommend as appropriate. I think this is only to purchase, you would still need someone to fit. I would assume that any decent bodyshop would be able to do this in half a day, i.e.4 hours labour.

or Renovo to revive the current one, then seal with Scotchguard Heavy Duty Water Repellent (from B&Q)
 
I saw that thanks. Southbound do original ones then? The others were all AM.

I a bit reluctant to go down the Renovo route as I tried the Incero product, but I was left with a sort of stripe (for want of a better word) down the centre. This I think is caused by overspray from the washers at speed as it seems to tie in. The Incero stuff was fine in my opinion. If I felt I could get the entire surface the same after applying the renovator then I would be happy. If I could get an opinion I would be happier still!

BTW I would get it fitted. Many moons back I did a mohair job on an MGB and I got a sterling result, but not the quality needed for a Boxster. I know my limits!
