High mileage Cayenne

I'm thinking of changing my Subaru Forester weekend/towing, do everything for an 2003/2004 Cayenne S, appears to be preferred to the 3.2. A couple have mileages in excess of 100,000, though properly serviced etc. Any views on whether high miles an issue? Am I going to be buying into a series of big bills, saw one reference to gearbox replacement at 3-4k[:(]
 
I've had my 2004 Cayenne S manual for over 3 years now and it's on about 90,000 miles. The car has been superb in every way, I often tow with it (it came with the factory tow pack), and has been driven all year round. The car is serviced every year, and has had no major faults, it still has original clutch, battery, exhaust etc...the only items I have changed are the discs and pads alongside routine service. At the lsat service my mechanic (Andy at RPM) advised me to change all 8 coil packs as he was surprised none had failed, so I had all replaced at a cost of £27 each. The only item to ever fail was a switch relating to the foot operated hand-brake. I personally prefer the steel suspension to the air option, and I have had fitted 10cm lower springs (by H&R), to improve the road holding and lower the car down.

As with buying any Porsche I would strongly avoid a car that has been damaged, or has patchy service records. I think that the Cayenne is a marvelous piece of quality engineering, and if looked after (as with mine) will give years of service.

Mines now done just under 100K, 30 K of which I've put on it in 18months

Full OPC service history, and I've had no issues whatsoever.
Going to add the towing kit, as I think the GT3 will benefit from being on the back of a trailer !
it's a keeper.
