Whats the thoughts on this ?
Exactly right on both points. But bear in mind that those higher-power bulbs are also illegal. And if you fit them, you need to fit some better wiring to them as the current (see what I did there?) wiring is likely to be pretty old and tired, and won't cope with the extra current drawn by the beefier bulbs.ORIGINAL: Suffolk944
Just fixing some higer performace standard bulbs can make a substantial difference. Also worth remembering that the headlights get very dirty when in the lowered position from all the muck thrown up from the road so a regular clean of the glass can work wonders too...

I replaced the standard H4s in my S2 with Osram or Phillips (can't remember) Nightbreaker lamps still retaining the normal 55/60W configuration so no more power drawn and the difference was huge I can now see the light profile on the road even in urban lighting which I could never do before and from memory they cost around £17 a pair and simply fit in place of the originals. Might be worth a try before spending on HIDs and also as mentioned worth making sure the lenses are clean and not too badly marked.

Yes these were the bulbs I was thinking of and I had on my previous 944 - are these illegal too ? The difference they made was remarkable, must do the same for the current one.

What was your previous 944 Jon? I assumed the turbo was your first.
