Hesitation issue

I've had this problem for a while and would like if you guys could surguest a fix.

The car, late turbo with promax level 2 kit

Issue, slight hesitation at about 2800rpm ie just coming on boost. If you don't change throttle position the car kind of bogs down for a split second but then pulls cleanly after right through the rest of the rev range. Can happen any time in any gear hot or cold, but not all the time.

Is been bugging me for ages because I just can't work out what is causing the problem.

So please fire away and a very large drink to anyone who can work it out!

could be lots of little not-quite-right things, but my first port of call would be a little air leak somewhere in the induction system.
 
Could be, was worried it might be fuel issue and cause damage.

Car has been recently serviced, plugs leads rotor etc and had a new j-boot was doing this before the service.

Air leaks are so hard to track down[:mad:]
 
Have you checked the plug gaps? This caused a similar issue with me on my L2 setup. Other than that cap, arm and leads would be my first port of call but you've already mentioned that. Maybe even damp in the cap could cause this issue. There is a little gasket the dizzy cap sits on that will almost certainly need replacing if you've not already done so.

I would rule out an air leak on the vac side, I had this and it caused issues coming off throttle not on it. If it's a boost leak your boost gauge or AFM ratios should be the giveaway. Have you got a wideband and an aftermarket boost gauge?

I haven't checked the plug gaps but the car was also doing this before I changed the plugs. But it does make sense, you thinking it could be blowing the spark out as it comes on boost as the gap is to big?

I don't have a wideband or extra boost gauge so not easy to check. I've not changed the gasket behind the dizzy it may be worth a go, the cap and arm are less than 3k miles old.

Oddly been driving the car all day today and it's not done it once, maybe just talking about the car has embarrassed it into working!
