Helper Springs

I'm thinking about stiffening up the Helper springs on my KW3's they current give about 80mm of travel at very low spring rates 100Lbs/inch I can't see that stiffening them up would have too much straight line negatives, unless traction would be adversely effected.

What do you think?

I don't think that would make any difference would it?

They should be fully compressed when the car is at rest.

If they're helpers, then they're only really there to ensure that the springs don't fall out of the seats when you remove the load on the main springs. Ed is right, increasing their rate won't make any difference, as they're fully compressed at rest or under normal traffic loads.

What rate main springs are you using? I've just changed mine for some slightly stiffer ones. I think it has reduced roll (although as Donington was so slippery, not easy to tell as we weren't going very fast). More details on my project thread.

Looks like I'll have to buy MO30 ARBS anyway.
I've been told that those make a significant difference to the way an S2 handles, and bang-for-buck is a great mod. Depends upon how much you pay for the ARB's, but they used to be available stupidly cheap new from Porsche.

Oli.

Rear yes, as its much stiffer and adjustable. Front one however doesn't make a huge difference and accounts for much of the cost. I have both and have carried the smaller stock one with bushes on it but have never fitted the thing. Would like to try it though as a pseudo-wet setup but some just don't believe in such a thing. TBH if starting from scratch again I am not sure I would bother with the front M030 ARB, specially not on a race car where our front springs are double what even KW use.
