HELP - HARNESS CLIPS FROM WHERE??

I've finally received my blue Sabelt 6 point driver side and 4 point passenger harnesses.

As they are not new and were previously connected to a roll bar I am missing 4 clips to connect them to the eye bolts I have had fitted in the rear seat well area.

They are 3" wide.

Anyone know where I can get 4???? I've looked on demon thieves, GPR and just about everywhere else on t'internet but with no joy tonight....

Have you tried Ears Motorsport?

And when you say that you have your eyes fixed in the rear seat well do you mean where the rear seatbelts would have attached if the car had rear seats? If so I'd recommend you have them moved before you have to "use" the harnesses, you run the risk of giving yourself a massive spinal compression in the event of an accident if your harnesses are attached too low. There is a guide on the safety devices website I think, that gives permitted fitting angles etc....

Back in the day when I had a 964 track car the harnesses were attached at the top of the rear bulkhead(?) so that they were almost horizontal.

Hope that makes sense, and if they are already there then sorry... its just a pet rant of mine[8|]

I may have just the clips you are looking for, as I was given some spare clips by Autofarm when they gave me the car back.

I will dig them out and check the width for you.

Ollie - will you check the size for me - everyone seems to have 2" clips with their 3" belts so it may be standard?

I have some 2" ones but they just don't look like a good fit.

I think the angle given for fitting the harness and the fitting point mentioned are well within spec. I think from memory it should be less than 45 deg. Mine are fitted there and i did check the fitting instructions when i fitted them.

I have just measured the width of the opening for the belt to pass though and it is just over 2" wide as the clip is just over 3" wide.

If you read the Scroth website, I think they say no more than a 15 degree angle unless you have seat especially constructed for the extra loading that the angle will place on the seatback. I have heard other "experts" say that the angle is fine and is actually good in that it keeps the seat back anchored in a big accident. My own preference has been to use a harness guide bar when hooking my harness to the rear seat mounting points.

As you should see the end clip holes are smaller than the width of the belts. hope the pics help.

Cheers laurence - everyone has come back saying the end clips on theirs are only 2" wide on 3" belts so looks like this is a standard - I have some 2" wide clips so should be ok now....

I knew i had read 45deg somewhere . The schroth instructions mention that upto 45 deg is acceptable when not using hans.

[FONT=century gothic"]guide at the appropriate height is essential to establish the horizontal shoulder strap routing off the shoulder/HANS®. Most racing seats are not designed and tested to carry shoulder belt crash loads from downward installation. Severe injury or death could result. A 45° downward shoulder belt installation is possible with seats that SCHROTH has positively tested to take a load measured during a 50 kph [31 mph] and 28 G impact with a 75 kg (175 lb) dummy. Refer to the list of SCHROTH approved racing seats in section "Bolts, Seats and Stuff". WARNING: 45° downward shoulder belt installation must never be used with HANS®.

so its only 45 degrees if you have one of the approved seats - otherwise its 20 degrees

bear in mind that the scroth instructions talk about seats they have tested. They can't be held responsible for seats they've not tested. That's not to say that other seats are'nt suitable, just they've not tested them to be sure. The recaro spg pole position is to all intents whats fitted to the RS.
One intersting observation from the website and Ollie's thread. The Scroth website states that when fitting to a cage there should be no possibilty of lateral movement. I wonder how that works in ollie's case (given the pictures in the thread) .One other thing to note is that Jasons belts are Sabelt not Scroth.Though i'd guess generalisations from both makers are valid.
