Heating/Aircon Controls

Hi All,
Had my C4 for three weeks now and things are going well, a few jobs to do (when aren't there) but loving the experience so far! I have a question about the heating and aircon controls though. My control panel does not seem to match the diagram in the owners manual. I have two 'snowflake' buttons where I was only expecting one. Could someone please explain the functions of these two buttons. I've tried search but can't really see anything that applies. Standing by to be deeply embarrased once some explains it [:(][:D].

Neil,

Your CCU has been replaced with the later 993 part. The original 964 part would have, as you suspected, a single air conditioning button, but the 993 has two. Functionally I suspect the two buttons do the same thing (or one doesn't do anything). The 993 part is the recommended replacement part so there is nothing untoward going on here.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the seriously quick reply! Interesting. I've tried pressing both but can't remember what happened. I did get a brief burning smell in the cockpit after trying one/both of them. Thanks again.

Now knowing that it's a 993 part I've just found this explanation on Rennlist:-

'On a 993 HVAC control, there are two "snowflake" buttons. The top one will put the A/C on max (full fan). The lower one will allow independent fan control.'

Our 1990 C4 has the 993 control panel for the ventilation -works fine we press both snowflakes to get the cold air[:)]Our original panel had a button seize the (recirculating one )and Specialist cars Malton changed it to the later variety under warranty.
