Headlight Adjustment

There is a thread from probably 3 or 4 years ago where I posted pics and the part number. Of course I can't find it using the comically named "search" function which could more accurately be named "ask for some infomation, ignore it and then wait 3 seconds and return a pop-up saying no results could be found" function.

Damon, one of the white adjusters was broken on mine when i got it. I ended up buying the whole frame which came complete with the white adjusters/mounts. On the PET at Bolton OPC, the parts guys could not find the white adjusters available seperately, hence bought whole frame. The vacuum adjuster mechanism on mine made replacing the frame a bit of a pain[8|]

Just to be clear (as on re-reading it isn't from my previous post) the white plastic bits are available separately, and for about 37p each, but I still can't find the post I made years ago with pictures and part numbers []

Thanks guys... I understood, thanks Fen, 37p sounds attractive! I've been searching to. Found this post from you where you mention the adjusters are made of breakalite! http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=46473&mpage=1&key=headlampë–Ÿ I've even been delving into the Titantic archives and saw you mentioned it in Oct 2004, so it must have been before then. Does PCGB go back that far I wonder?

Damon, I have found this, complete with part numbers but as i said, when i presented this to my local OPC I was told that they now only came with the frame - that was 6 months ago. Still worth checking with your local dealer as mine might have missed a trick?![:)]

Mucho searching... [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=37473&mpage=1&key=944%2E631%2E912%2E00&#38178]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=37473&mpage=1&key=944%2E631%2E912%2E00&#38178[/link] Now they might no longer be available, or it might just be Nick has a lazy OPC parts guy

The horizontal adjusters on both my headlights are a mess. The white screw on the retaining frame that the adjuster screws goes into have both crumbled. So my headlight horizontal adjusters are in place with assorted washers and bolts which isn't ideal and I'd like to get the right parts to have it back to how it should be.

I've looked in PET and the white bits that have crumbled don't appear to have a seperate part no. (See PET pic below - arrow on the right, ignore arrow on the left I need one of those too but it has a part no.), before I call OPC to enquire and they sell me 2 x new retaining frames that might not have the white plastic screwhead I need, I thought I would query the group to see if anyone knows if this item only comes as part of the whole retaining frame. Thanks

Think I'm ok, guys the bit you posted is a bit I need. However, the main bit I need is the part that twists into the retaining frame and stays there. It's what the adjuster screw, screws into. 944 631 912 00 is what attaches the adjuster screw to the lamp unit, so far I only need one of these! But I need 2 of the bits that I screw the adjuster screw into which themselves are twist lodged in the retaining frame, its these bits that I had the query on. OPC have got the retaining frames on order so I may pop over when they get them in and see that all the right bits are included, they're only 32.17 inc VAT for the pair so not the end of the world.

I've got the electric headlamp height adjustment on mine, but only one of the motors is working and touching the cockpit switch causes the working motor to go into a spasm, so off to Porsch-apart for a good s/h switch and adjustment motor I go....[8|] Fitting it will undoubtedly be a complete b......[8|] Edited to say that I'll try some contact cleaner spray on the switch first - just out of interest, I tried my local OPC and they want £83.78 plus Vat (minus PCGB discount!) for the switch....

I see now the other bit you need Damon, which clearly must not have been broken on my cab as I didn't replace it. January 2004 - yikes; it doesn't seem like closer to 5 years than anything else! I wonder how many other Titanic hoarders there are? I lots a load of earlier mails but my archive goes back to September 2003. That has me thnking now when I joined Titanic. Probably not quite early enough to have been in the 90's I think. Rick recycled my electric adjusters. I remember from taking them off that I was glad they didn't have to go on again! I have the switch somewhere, but unfortunately I have no idea where that is or you'd have been welcome to it Nick.

Oh smashing, can't wait...[8|] I have the switch somewhere, but unfortunately I have no idea where that is or you'd have been welcome to it Nick. It's the thought that counts![:D]
^^^ Thanks Fen

Picked up the retaining frames yesterday and they come with all the required bits just like the PET pic above. I'll see how I go on whether I fit the whole thing or just use the white pieces that I need. Fen - I used to keep Titanic posts but don't anymore, the archive (from '04 anyway) is still available online if you know where to click.
