Have you ever felt a 'Plonka'

On a recent track day at Goodwood I set the trip computer when the 'Green light' came on and at the checkered flag I looked to see my average speed. (incidentally it was around 84mph).

What was interesting was the MPG figure of 6.6 !

On about the fourth run of the day I noted that the fuel gauge was showing just under a quarter of a tank.After the run, I was on the cooling down lap when it happened.................... Yes I ran out of Petrol!

Good job the towing eye was in place.

Has anyone else had any embarrasing experiences in their Porsche ?

I don't feel a plonker, just feel its their loss that they don't enjoy the experience as much as they possibly could do..!

okay, sometimes this happens but aren't you worried about:
- If the warning light has come on, do not take bends at high speed.

In my RAV4, once the fuel liight is on, the right hand bends on the M6 through Cumbria are enough to temporarily starve the engine of fuel (at certain speeds...)

My 911's manual is the only car manual I've seen this in. I've assumed it's related to how specifically they are tuned. It has made me rather more cautious about filling up in plenty of time - especially when there are so few 98 octane opportunities.

Well I just ended up in the gravel trap at Harewood today during their hillclimb driving school ....and yes I felt a bit of a Plonka as I totally ignored everything the instructor told me []....I did manage to get 6.7 mpg so slightly better than above [].

How about paying £500 to an OPC for a FULL and detailed PPI - then being surprised at all the things they missed or got wrong ?!

I do umpteen trackdays a year and give it full welly, yet my consumption has never been worse than 11mpg.And that's with a 450bhp upgrade.

The best plonker post was not me but my friend trying to get in the car..

It was a wet day and has he got in his foot slipped on the metal cill plate and he skidded off and ended up almost under the car with just his head showing.. I laughed so much his wife came to see what had happened [&:]
