Has your 944 ever "Bitten" you ?

Hmm, this is not thrilling news. I'll have to wait until the panels are stripped off and we can get a good look at everything. Don't think I can go through another full build if that's is going to be the result.
Somehow 18 months off the road and crashing (potentially?) first time back requiring a full rebuild in another tub seems not to be very cost effective. []

Neil, that seems ridiculous to be forced into using MPSCs as the tyre of choice...ESPECIALLY in the U.K. Mind boggling stuff!

worst case, if needs be, cut the old cage out and install a new one. you wont require a new shell if the panels can be repaired easy enough. i can even supply you with a weld in cage kit ready to install, and get the kit out to aus no issues as i have a contact shipping 911's and 944's into aus soon.

Thanks a lot for your kind offer Nick. My builder is also the cage builder and I will just have to wait to see what his appraisal is as well. I guess it's in his own interests to suggest a new cage also but so far this hasn't been discussed.
We should be able to pull some more data out and know exactly how fast I was going at impact which also might influence the decision.

At this stage I 'think' the car is repairable. I've only seen it on the hoist the same afternoon of the crash.

Have the repairs started yet Patrick? How is it progressing and any idea how long before you're back on track?

No Paul. Not yet. One thing and another. Plus I'm a bit short of the Squids at the moment. Hope to get back into it in July. Still prognosticating about the cause. Starting to think it was the ride height set too high to accommodate the front wheel/tyre combo. Seems silly with those flares but this could have been it. The thing that amazes me is that we're only talking about mm's in terms of travel. They're saying that perhaps with as little as an extra 5mm in droop may have saved me. That's hard news to take under the circumstances. []
