For those that have not heard the news

Hans Mezger the designer of the flat six, the flat 12 in the 917 and the tag F1 engine died yesterday 11th June 2020 at the age of 90, an outstanding engineering genius
 
Yes...saw this earlier today, a great engineer and from a time where the sliderule ruled. He will be missed

Saw that. Quite telling the turbo/GT3 kept the reliable Mezger based engine, and the standard 996/Boxster problems started when Porsche dropped it.
 
Had the chance to meet and chat with him 7 years ago. He was by far the most humble and accessible gentleman I ever came across since I have had an interest in 944s. There will never be engineers like him anymore.
