handbrake warning light

Hi, I have found the cable near the handbrake lever for the warning light but can't see the switch where should it be?

Ed

There's a metal bracket just in front of the handbrake lever that the switch clips into, or at least that's how it is on my 86 car.

Thanks does this bracket fit on the floor ?

Ed

Hi Ed

The bracket should be in plain sight, it looks like its protruding from the side of the car below the plastic kicking door strip but on feeling it I suspect the bracket may extend down to where the handbrake pivots... Hope that makes sense?

There is nothing there on mine, just a wire that's been taped up, looks like I will have to make something up
Thanks for your help

Ed

That does seem a little strange Ed, still should be an easy fix. The switch looks like a standard micro switch although not very micro being of 80's design. Basically the bracket comes out from the side at a height that allows the handbrake to rest on it when in the off position thus pressing on the switch. Perhaps a simple L bracket secured to the inside wall below the handle's down position would be an easy way to get a working light. Perhaps purchase the OEM switch first and then make the bracket for this to fit into would be a good way to tackle this.

Have fun

Pete
